Does this sound like spasiscity?

Hi All,  I used to pop in on this board for a while.  I've had many MS like symptoms including 20 lesions on my brain that my MS neuro specialists tell me is not MS.  I did get a positive Lyme test from Igenex and am being treated for that and have made a lot of improvement.  Having said that, I find myself worrying, yet again, that I actually might have MS.

This last week, I started having bad pain in both my glutes and the pain would radiate down both of the backs of my legs.  I isn't 24/7 but it seems to come and go.  A few times, even lying in bed it was hurting.  I've been trying to stretch my hamstrings and roll my legs on a foam roller and that has helped.  Now though, I'm feeling a tightness in my calves....  I'm not really sure how to explain all of this...

I've had 3 MRI's over the course of 1.5 years and there have been no changes at all.  Also, LP and numerous other tests all came be negative for MS.

I'm really worried that this might be yet another sign that maybe I do have MS.

Thanks and any advice or thoughts would be appreciated.

Thank you so much.

Thanks Everyone.  I did look that sciatic nerve thing and it does sound like that.  The only difference is that I was having the pain in both of my legs and the sciatica thing (and my chiro) says it is usually on one side.

Anyway, today I'm not having any pain after 4-5 days on ongoing on/off issues.

Thanks everyone and my prayers are with you.

I agree, this sounds like a problem with your sciatic nerve.  It's is excruciating pain- my husband has had it.  I would recommend seeing a chiropractor over a regular doctor.  Nerve impingement of any kind is awful, and chiropractors have a more immediate way of unlocking the pressure on that nerve.

Best of luck to  you!  I hope you feel better soon.

I was thinking the same thing - maybe sciatica?  Have you had an MRI of your L spine?  This isn't usually part of a MS workup, but it may help differentiate between a bulging lumbar disc causing sciatica and nerve pain from MS.

hmmm, siatic (probably not spelled right, fingers don't hit right keys, ha) nerve pops in my head but just a suggestion.  hard to pin that MS down without some signs, that's the frustrating part.  Have you talked to your neuro about meds for this particular symptom or PT ?

Were CT's done to rule out muscle problems in the spine?  just running thru my head some things that my neuro did to r/o other problems..
