I brought my husband with me, he took the day off. I'm glad he took some notes.
The dr. checked my reflexes and they were fine. (argh or what?) He said they could have reacted the way they did back in December due to the vertigo spell I was experiencing. And yup, he had me take my socks off!
He did say something I found to be odd: he is "dyslexic" so he didn't look at my beauteous timeline (I had the receptionist include one copy in my file!!)
He just wanted me to tell him my symptoms. He said on a priority scale, which ones bothered me the most. I guess that makes sense, because I have about 12 and was only able to talk about 6. Maybe that's efficiency on his part, and he isn't truly dyslexic? How do you get through years of med school to be a neurologist if you're dyslexic?
Moving on: I have an MRI brain & cervical spine, with and without contrast at 1 PM today. He also mentioned brain stem auditories, visual evoked response and an EEG (that is next Thursday).
He kindly told me that he knows it is frustrating, that I will want to know right away, and that it will take 2-3 weeks to get things taken care of. That folks get all the tests done and don't show up for the followup. He wants me to followup, so they can take care of me and find out what is bothering me. I said Oh yeah, I WILL be at the followup, that's why I spent weeks on my timeline, and I took my copy from hubby............to which the dr. said "I'm dyslexic, remember?" Hmmm. He told me the young lady in the room was there to help me, her name is Julie, and Julie will email me with anything I want to know. But in the end to followup with him, as that is very important!
Well, it seems he's ordering all the tests I've read about.
It sounds odd, but I really wish my reflexes had acted up. Can you have "good reflexes" one day and bad ones another day and still have MS?
