Can MS cause spinal pain and legs to suddenly go rubbery?

Lately I have been having pain up and down the length of my spine that comes and goes, then last night I walked from the livingroom to my bedroom and sat down in a chair with a cushion, the phone rang and I went to get up but my legs wouldn't hold me, they felt like rubber, I noticed my lower body would rock as if I had no stability., I had full feeling in them just couldn't stand up with out doing the wobbly. For the first 30 minutes when it happened it was extremely hard to stand and then slowly it got better but its still there the next morning.

Everything thyroid has been tried. Methotrexate stopped the pain but I am sensitive to it, same with Plaquenil and lyrica. I am currently on methyl/Prednisone which I have been on since January 2010 and Mobic. They can't find the reason for my knees swelling which showed up overnight, they are constantly swollen now and worse in the mornings. The lymph glands were the same way, just showed up overnight and have stayed swollen. I have had the mylar rash and my cheeks are now stained from it.

Honey, you do have a lot of issues.

Try discussing with your endocrinologist if you could try another form of thyroid medication, as you might not be getting/making the active form that drives every cell in the body, T3.

Synthroid is T4; a synthetic form of the pro hormone which really has no activity in the body other than being available for conversion to T3 in the thyroid mostly which you no longer have.

Just a thought.

I have Lupus, inflammatory arthritis, suspected sarcoidosis, fibromyalgia-mild. My symptoms are muscle pain all over, muscle spasms all over, the muscle spasms around my upper back, chest and ribs feel like I can't breathe -like being squeezed, twitching in muscles in legs, swollen knees that are worse in the mornings, feet pain, fatigue, double vision, blurred vision, dry eyes-severe, joint pain in all joints, nausea that comes and goes, swollen lyph glands in neck and under arms, bead like knots uner skin in upper arms that are only felt by touch, diffuse alopecia, spinal pain, sacral arthritis,

I have not been diagnosed with MS, I am going to a Neuromuscular specialist july 2nd, we have been trying to figure this out since June of 2009. It all started after my total thyroidectomy and papillary cancer-no treatment besides synthroid.

Hi Iris,

Do you have MS? Pardon me for not remembering. MS can cause a garden variety of weakness, spasticity, and parathesia. However, so can a whole host of other conditions.

If you are able, give us a brief update, and we'll try to help with info, or point you to another source that can.
