Can contrast mess with your head, literally?

Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone else gets a bad reaction with the mri contrast? I had mri 2 days ago. I still can’t sleep, feel agitated and have a horrible headache.

When you look up side effects of MRI with contrast, you will find headache is listed.  It is , however, sup  and temporary.  It's not an allergic reaction but simply a side effect.  supposed to be mild and temporary. Perhaps you cant sleep because of the headache.  And stress could be making it all worse.  That's all just ideas.  That this has been going on for 2 days, I agree that you should call your doctor to inquire about it. It could be other things too coincidentally at the same time (like hormones). Hope you feel better soon.  When do you get your MRI results?

Thank you. I’m giving it one more day before I call the doctor. Results of the mri shouldn’t take more than a few more days.

Hi and welcome,

As far as i'm aware Gadolinium contrast used for MRI's is less likely to produce an allergic reaction than the iodine-based materials used for x-rays and CT's, it's very rarely to have an allergic reaction to gadolinium-based contrast but typically reactions are hives and itchy eyes, i've not heard of headaches, agitation and insomnia being associated with it before....probably best to speak to your dr about it.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful......JJ
