Well, learned quite a lesson yesterday about how an accident / emergency can make all your MS symptoms disappear....
I had taken my car to a friends to have the rear brake cylinder looked at (was leaking brake fluid). He said quick fix, he would do it on the spot. Set me up in his living room with AC and water, but needed my help a couple times with pumping the brake pedal to bleed the system. Was several rounds of running up and down the outside steps... and it was hot as a biscuit.... My legs were killing by the time it was over.
Was happy to get home, relax and just chill for a bit hoping the spasms would let up and the fatigue would start to fade in time for making something for dinner... My daughter had been asking me to go with her to a new stylists for her getting her hair done but I just was not up for it. I asked her to unload the dishwasher for me before heading out.
I had been home maybe an hour when she was doing the dishwasher for me, when I heard the shatter and curse, then the funny little not quite squeak of a noise she made. She had sliced her thumb on the bottom just at the joint, was a huge flap of skin sliced but hanging on and she was bleeding like crazy. Mom instinct, offspring in trouble, mode kicked in and trying to get it stopped and examined, knew she would need a couple stitches, thing would never heal where it was and how large the slice was. So, forgetting that 20 minutes ago I could barely get my butt off the sofa, called our primary doctor's office and rushed her over to them.... our doctor being so wonderful and having all daughters, understood the importance of my daughter's hair appointment. We did get a 30 minute window of extra time from the stylist, but the doc stitched her up on the spot and with adrelaine still pumping I took her to her appointment. It was sitting and waiting for her to finish up there that the system kicked into 'everything is okay, daughter will survive' mindset and I could literally feel the cramping and spasms start as if someone was squeezing parts of me.
Today, I am on the edge of useless... threw a load of laundry in, but thing that will be it. Hurts to move arms, legs are like wooden sticks, overall body is beyond exhausted....
Anyway, sharing this for anyone who worries that when sometime happens they won't be able to handle an emergency... You might be surprised at just how 'normal' you can suddenly be for that burst of energy when you're called to deal with an emergency... Just be warned, the next day, you're a huge puddle of mud...
