Transient Paralysis?

Have any of you had this? How long did it last? What was your experience?

(I posted about this before but it was buried under a monologue :) )

I had this happen to both legs three years ago.  I also had pain.  I went to the ER because I was scared.  They admitted me.  I was there for five days and the end result was the neuro there told me I was faking it because with help I could stand and bear weight...even though I had to hold on to a walker so I wouldn't fall.

I have gotten it two more times since then, when in a flare.  Not to scare you because everyone is different, but my legs have gotten weaker and weaker since this first happened.  I have also had leg issues since I first started having symptoms six years ago.

I am now mostly wheelchair bound.  I can walk from my room to the bathroom, room to kitchen, living room to bathroom, ect.   But not all at once.  One walking trip to the bathroom is all my legs will give me without resting for a bit.

I am also undx'ed.

5 years ago my right leg from the knee down was like that. it felt heavy and I couldn't lift it while sitting, standing or laying in bed. i could swing it forward by using my hip.  I had fallen many times because of that leg just giving out, I guess. I would stand and swear my leg wasn't there. it lasted about 6 weeks and then i could sort of move it.

took 6 months to see a neuro. still wasn't walking good but i could drag my leg, just not fast. it took a lot of thought to raise it only a tiny bit.  laying flat on my back I couldn't raise it up at all. talked neuro into sending me to PT and finally after 6 more months i got where I could walk without draging my leg. not like normal but better. kind of swinging from my hip more I think.

2008 my left leg did the same thing. it is better but far from good. but I can walk ! funny, like a drunk and I trip a lot, but walk none the less!  sometimes one or the other leg will get worse and maybe I adapt somehow. I don't know. I know to me if feels like they both are much weaker. my PCP and neuro note the weakness, but its like yup there is some weakness there.

I have visions of chaining cement blocks to their legs and see how well they walk. HA. really not much they can do I guess. neuro told me to walk as much as I can for as long as I can. So, I just keep going.  :-) maybe I can find the energizer bunny. sorry I went way off there.

I don't know if that is what you mean but that is what happens to me.
I don't have a definitive diagnosis.

Hi Sadie,

I am not dx'd with ms, but I had what I called "Dead legs" while lying in bed. I was getting ready to roll over in bed to get comfy, but , I could not lift my legs for the life of me.

I literally had to grab my legs with my hands to lift them up and place them where I wanted them. I could feel my hands on my legs, but they were dead to me. I couldn't move them at all. No pain, came out of nowhere, I was not stressed out, it just happened, I thought nothing of it, called my mom, told her about it, pretty much laughed it off, and fell asleep.

By the morning, I was fine.

Weirdest thing. Hope you get some more answers!

Hugs,
Pam
