lesions on the brain of MRI

I had just been recently diagnosed with MS. The doctor said that my MRI showed lesions on my brain and that is how I was diagnosed. I was wondering though, is it really MS or could it be something else?
I was hospitized after I had a problem with hearing and roaring in one ear. I heard it might be a stroke but I am just curious if it could be something else. Can anyone help?

Hi and welcome to our forum.

I was dx'd about 6 months ago and my dx came about from sensory hearing loss on one side. This led me to having an MRI scan and lesions were found on my brain. I was then sent to a neurologist and further more detailed scans were done and I was then dx'd fiarly quickly with MS. I also had visual evoked potential tests done and blood elimination work.
I did not have a lumbar puncutre but my consultant said with my clinical history and new symptoms there was no doubt.

As shell said talk to your consultant about treament. There is a lot to learn and read and I have found this forum a very helpful place to be.

With best wishes and good luck..you are among friends

Hi there,

Welcome! Lesions on the brain is only one piece to the puzzle where MS is concerned. MS is a clinical diagnosis and testing only helps to support, or not support the diagnosis. I'd like to point you to our health pages where you can read up on MS mimics.

It's ok to be doubtful. I doubted my dx too until I learned all the evidence used to dx me. It's ok to ask your Dr. about this. It will make you feel better.

How are you feeling? Has your dx'ing neuro talked to you about treatment?

Thanks for joining us,
