Questions for u. Comments very much needed

I am new on this forum and am a member of another forum but I am trying to get as much information as I can.

I have had an MRI  early in 2010 that was negative but my NL did mention one possible lesion and two older ones but felt it wasn't worth looking into anymore than that because headaches can cause those.

My symptoms have changed a bit in the last 4 months and I am trying to find out where to go from here.

Things all started bad in late 2009. I have a lot of neurological issues that seem to come and go. The last episode lasted for a little over a week. My top symptoms are below. The muscle and bowel issues are increasing with each episode and I am very frustrated with my health overall.

I am 37 and have always been healthy. Frustration with myself and drs is a nice way of putting it.

Any feedback is very welcome. Thank you all for your time and hoping you all have a good day.

Jennifer

*****Short list of the most bothersome symptoms I have been experiencing.****

Pressure headaches on a regular basis that become excruciating during my “episodes”

Tremors now in my hands, arms and legs hard to walk down stairs because of the shakiness

Increasing visual disturbances (black shadows, flickering eyes, flashes of light, etc)

Loss of muscle tone and strength

Loss of time. Someone talking to me and they say I look at them but have no recollection of the question or conversation

Memory issues. Short term. Have to keep notes in order to get things done. Trouble remembering even little things

Dizziness, vertigo (with balance issues) and brain fog

Twitching and spasms in legs, arms (makes it almost impossible to sleep because of the discomfort.) wake up with arms or more often in legs with muscles so sore like I worked out too long. Also twitching in the private area

Numbness and tingling in face and tongue

Burning and dull ache in my neck, shoulders and arms. Feels like I pulled every muscle from my head to middle of my back but I have full movement

Extreme fatigue and exhaustion

Urinary incontinence

Bowel problems (inability to go when I feel like I need to)

Tightness in chest, shortness of breath

Throat feels thick and sometimes hard to swallow along with loss of gag reflex that comes and goes

I am one of those who was told that my lesions were from headache or hypertension. It took a lot of testing and 5 different neuros before I received a solid diagnosis. Yes, I do have migraine headaches AND MS.

The Health Pages have a wealth of information. They are located in the upper right hand corner next to the yellow icon. There is a page on MS mimics, one on old lesions and one on what it takes to get a dx.

I do hope they find some answers for you soon.

Good luck on your journey.

It is nerve racking and not knowing is tough.

Take it a step at a step at a time.

Good luck.

Thank you for that.

I have an appt with my PCP tomorrow to go over the muscle and bowel issues. I hope that she will be able to help with some medications and suggestions.

My biggest complaint years ago used to be a headache but now that seems to be the least of my problems.

Thank you again and have a good day.

All your symptoms sound very real. Where to go from here I do not know what to tell you. It is really hard with our current medical system. Your symptoms are too vague for a MS diagnosis so I think it would be a waste of time and money to go to a MS Specialist. You basically have to know what is wrong with you to know the right Doctor to go to.

I guess for now you could treat the symptoms. Even if you get a diagnosis many times you get handed off to Specialists for each problem. Or if you are like me no one knows what to do with you.

I am sorry I can't be more help. I have a diagnosis but end up with no help because Doctors tell me that problem is handled by a different Doctor. Most of the time I use diet to help myself as best I can. Or I treat symptoms.

Alex
