I SURVIVED THE LP

WELL I AM A LITTLE SORE THIS MORNING BUT OTHERWISE DOING FINE.... FOR ALL THAT IS ANTICIPATING A LP IT REALLY WASNT ALL THAT BAD.... I FELT THOSE NEEDLES GO INTO MY BACK WHEN THEY NUMBED THE AREA AND THAT WAS IT. THEN I FELT IT WHEN THEY HAD TO MEASURE THE PRESSURE BUT OTHER THAN THAT I JUST LAID THERE HOPING THAT EVERYTHING WAS GOING WELL. I DID LAY DOWN YESTERDAY FOR MOST OF THE DAY BECAUSE HUBBY WOULDNT LET ME UP. I HAD A LOT OF PAIN IN THE SITE AREA BUT TODAY IT SEEMS TO BE ALITTLE BETTER. AT LEAST I AM UP WALKING.... I WAS SHOCKED THAT THE WHOLE PROCEDURE ONLY LASTED ABOUT 45 MINUTES. NOW JUST WAITING ON THE RESULTS, IF DOC DONT CALL TODAY I WILL CALL HIM, I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH NEURO AND OPTIC-NEURO ON THE 5TH AND 6TH. MAYBE I WILL GET SOME ANSWERS...

ONE QUESTION THOUGH THE DOCTOR WHO DID THE LP DID SAY THAT MY FLUID PRESSURE WAS EXTREMELY HIGH... CAN ANYONE HERE TELL ME WHAT THAT IS ABOUT???? SHOULD I BE CONCERNED???

I ALSO WANT TO THANK EVERYONE HERE ON THE FORUM FOR THE THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS WHILE I WAS AWAY AND GOING THROUGH THIS LP WITHOUT  YOU ALL IT WOULD HAVE REALLY BEEN HARD. HOPE ALL IS WELL AND GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU!!!

Well, all by itself, if you are without headaches and stuff and if the MRI doesn't show effects of pressure on the brain tissue I'm not sure.  But there is a condition known as Pseudotumor Cerebri which is a state of increased intracranial pressure due to excessive spinal fluid production.  It can present like the pressure of a growing brain tumor (BUT WITHOUT the tumor).  They treat it in a couple different ways.  It will be interesting to see what your neuro does with it.  Some other time I will look it up, but you can google pseudotumor cerebri and see what you find.  I AM NOT diagnosing it!!  Just one of my thoughts.

Back to bed for both of us.

I am glad this is over for you.  I will advise you to stay down for DAYS.  I know this is really hard, but that stinken headache can show up even a few days later.  Not trying to be an alarmist, but it has happened to me twice.  (I may just be a medical oddity, though, among other things!)  Love to you,  Amy  P.S.  I think lab results take about ten days; they send it out to a special lab and it is quite a lot of tests they do.)

See, it went as well as everyone said it would!  Take it easy today, too, okay?  I second Heather, it was 5 days before mine came back.  It'll be interesting to see what the pressure thing reveals.  We're all proud of you.

I have been anxiously waiting to hear that you came through the LP.  I wish I could tell you what the "high" pressures mean, but I just don't know.

If you were to get any results today, I would be very surprised.  I have never heard of anyone getting a report from their LP's that quickly.  I could be wrong.

I think I will go "google" the "high pressure" thing and see what I can find out.  I will let you know what I find.

Take it easy today, even though you may feel totally okay.  I am so glad that the LP is over and you seemed to get through it just fine.  Thank goodness.  I was worried about you honey.

REST....Sending big (((HUGS)))))

Heather
