Saw second neuro today :)

I saw my second neuro today. He listened to everything I had to say . Read my time line . Went over MRI with me And did a 15 min. neuro test.

During the exam he noticed weakness in my fight hand, balance issues and also saw lesions on the MRI that the first neuro or radiologist missed. I had seen these but thought they must be normal

It felt good to be heard and taken seriously by a neuro. This is acually #3    What a relief...

He mentioned Copaxone twice.,and wants me to consider which rx. I think I would be able to tolerate. I kept telling him I didn't want any    :) ...     but he said  he's is not ready to dx. yet.  One thing at a time . first is the parathyroid surgery next month.  He does feel maybe some of my stuff ( conductive paresthesia, his term for the electrical feeling ) could be due to my borderline elevated calcium levels from the ParaT. So hopefully surgery will help.   In the mean time a balance test ??  And to get set up with pt. and pain management .

He wants me to have a special imaging ,,  something .. for ms
I'd have to go about three hours away for it. Venice , Fl.    Has any one got any idea what this is . Of course I was in such a fog , I didn't get a clarification on a couple of things. I guess I'll go searching tonight to see if I can figure it out ..  I assumed it is an MRI looking just for hidden/ hard to find ms lesions..  ??

Well , it something.   :)     A start

  Prayers and hugs      Jo

Jen and Wanna

Jen    Thanks for your informative post .  OCT  -  I think I have seen that mentioned here but didn't know what it was or that I should know .    Why isn't everyone in Limbo-Land tested with this . It costs $ 100 . seems like its a good and accurate test . It compliments the mri

Wanna    Yes, it is a big relief and a big deal to be validated by your  doc,    I feel too insecure and too fragile right now to be upset by one of my doctors.  This is a difficult process, trying to find a good dr, when you don't feel well ,can't see , no energy.

I'm going to have the surgery May 13 , after that the OCT and a full MRI  ( I've never had t-spine done )

Thanks for caring         Jo

Let's hope you get answers from him and soon!  When do you go for the MRI?

Keep us posted!

Optical coherence tomography?  They look at your optic nerve for signs of degeneration... it's a pretty good test for MS.
