Feeling out of control

I am so tired again.  We took a week trip to Florida with our 5 children and my dog.  We stayed with my parents.  They live in a retirement community in a 2 bedroom mobile home.  Interesting week with 5 children and 4 adults in a 2 bedroom place!

The weather was nice compared to the piling up inches and feet of snow we are seeing up here in Indiana.  On the way down my dog, a pomeranian, went into respiratory distress.  We took him to an animal hospital and got him fixed up.

When we left Florida I had a happy dog.  When we got less than half way through Georgia I had a dead dog.  He had taken a bun one of the kids dropped to the back of our 12 passenger van and choked to death on it!

We had done CPR on him several times in the past and were able to save him.  This time no one had any idea he was choking.  It has been less than a week.  It is not easy.

And my weight is just exploding.  I am so upset.  I have never let myself get to the point I am at.  I don't want to be this size.  I am not 50 pounds over where I should be.  I have to find the strength to somehow get this weight back down.

I am not eating more but I am much less mobile.  That is difficult to over come. :(

LA,
So sorry about your dog. What a tragic accident.

With weight that is tough. I have to make improvements a little at a time.  I used to eat fast food all the time. I cut out one day a week, then two until I cut it out all together. Same with everything else. I have gone from a 39 inch waist to a 34 in two years. This year my goal is 32. I do not even think of pounds. I guess it would be hard with kids, we got all processed food out of the house. I buy tons fruits, vegetables, nuts, and lean meat. If I get the munchies at night at least I am eating fruit or rice cakes. I loved processed foods and soda. Now I fresh foods and drink a lot of green tea. I have no will power. Over the holidays at my in laws I ate every cookie, cake, etc.

Thank you Michelle.  The little kids keep asking where he is.  They do not understand death.  They think he is sick and at the doctor. I guess that is what they can comprehend.

Thank you everyone.  I do hope I get past losing Mickey.  We are going to get another dog although it will not be a Pom.  Not right now anyway.

The pup we are waiting on is a mix breed old English sheep dog/ Australian Shepard/ blue heeler. I know the owners and the dog should be a great pet for the kids.

Mickey was my dog.  He was great with the kids but I was his "person".

Quix hit it on the head about the weight issue.  I just don't have the strength right now.  The desire is there.

I have to cook for 5 kids and cooking something different for me takes so much energy I just do not have right now.  Plus I have started those yucky hot flashes.  I am 46 and guess I am at that age.

I am getting more help with my children so maybe that will take some stress off.

I have just read your news loosing a dog is the most distressing emotion but not feeling  well and having to cope will play havoc with your body.

With concerns about your weight I would deal with this sad loss and support your inner emotions the best way you can.
When I loss my dog two years ago I shred 2 stones without trying to loose weight.

I am so sorry for your sad loss and hope things get better fro you soon.

Oh, how terrible to discover your beloved dog like that.  what a terrible stress for everyone!  My thoughts are with you and your kids.

My weight seems impossible, too.  First, I'm not in the right mindset to do anything, but the inactivity doesn't help.

Hi LA,
you can keep that wintry weather over there in Indiana and not share it with us in Ohio :-) - we had a good snow today, but it could have been a lot worse.

The loss of your dog is very sad - I can't imagine how everyone in your car must have felt.

You should be exhausted after making that drive down and back, with the whole gang along.  But those are the kind of trips that good memories are made from

You're in a tough spot with the weight - not being able to exercise, or at least not being as active as we need to be, can compound the problems that are already ripe because of the drug side effects.  Don't get down on your self - try to find things that you can do and work on those.

stay warm and safe, neighbor!

Oh my gosh!  I am so sorry about your dog.
That is so sad :(   How did the kids handle it?

I bet you are exhausted from your trip. I live here in Florida. What part did
you come to?  I am also sorry that you are feeling down on yourself about
the weight issues.  Try not to be so hard on yourself  :)

There are several meds that we take that one of the side effects is......
weight gain. And....if you are on steroids plus not being as mobile, all plays
a part in it.

    Take Care and be well,
~Tonya
