Furious with Fedex

I've been getting Avonex shipments for 18 months, no probs till recently. Now I'm having a royal runaround from Fedex. I keep saying to leave the package outside if I don't answer (not here), but suddenly they won't do it, or leave a door tag, or do anything else reasonable.

My last shipment was sent last Thursday for delivery Friday. Wrong. I tracked it down and was told I'd get it Monday. Wrong again. Tracked it down and was told Fedex won't allow deliveries outside condo bldgs. First I'd heard of that. So I stayed home all day today and still no package. Was supposed to do my shot Monday night.

I was finally able to get hold of Walgreen's Medmark, their specialty pharmacy. After getting more runaround I talked to a customer service rep, who discussed this with a pharmacist. I was told not to use the supply even if it comes later today. I had been quite worried about that, because who knows what conditions it was stored in. Walgreen's is sending me another package, this time using UPS, and I don't have to pay. They said they know it's not my fault, and that Fedex doesn't really have that policy, it's all driver discretion.

Has anyone else had this kind of problem? If so, how did you resolve it? I was so angry I was spitting nails, but am calming down now.

Actually, my specialty pharmacy did a great job in helping me out, which is important now that I can get only a month's supply at a time, so I'd have to deal with this hassle constantly.

They arranged shipment by UPS, and even had it delivered to another address when I was away for Christmas. So from now on I'll ask for UPS.

I can't deal with 'driver discretion' when apparently the same driver keeps refusing to take yes for an answer.

Fedex delivers my Copaxone and I haven't had any problems. They always leave it at the door even though it says direct signature. You may need to request no signature to the pharmacy who processes the information to ship it. They also have coolers for things that need to be kept cold. I work for Fedex and it can be quite frustrating dealing with driver "discretion", especially when boxes are labeled time sensitive. Sorry for that inconvenience.

People who are frosted could give to the poor in the summer for cooling.

Ess,
Our UPS delivery is regular as clockwork and I can count on them to deliver my copaxone - and they will leave it without a signature.

Our FedEX drivers always seem to take the easy way out - they  have even taken packages with them that n eeded signatures, claiming no one was home.  When in fact I've been sitting and waiting for them.

It sounds like you will need to request UPS shipping everytime you get yoru refill.
I hope you get it in time beforre you holiday travels begin.

be well,
Lulu

One addition:

For those who are steamed or have steam coming out of their ears - consider this as alternative method to cook your veggies,

Great idea!

For all those:

sh!tting bricks - consider Habitat

having a cow - consider Heifer International

exploding - consider conventions for D.U.M.B. and S.T.U.P.I.D. doctors

breathing fire - give to the people without heat

spitting (in general) - spit is high in protein.  This could be dehydrated to make protein powder

screaming - aid for people without phone service

I am sorry you have this FedEx. Please lodge a complaint.

On a different note : I have been angry and spitting nails among other itens @ Fedex for about 6 months, since they laid my husband off. GO BROWN, has been my new motto since!!

Ess,

I am so sorry for your frustration! I WAS using Walgreens for my Copaxone and the driver left it without a signature. No problems...great service and you could set your watch my my local Fed-ex guy.

My insurance decided to switch specialty pharmacies and the new one uses UPS and is not as reliable, never mind the fact that it's a month supply as opposed to my old 90 day supply.

Quix is correct. I would file a formal complaint with Fed-Ex.  Way too much energy and aggravation spent on your end! this should be easy enough, we spend so much time with everything else in our lives due to MS , this should be a no brainer.

Quix: Love the spitting nails for Habitat for Humanity! You are correct. If you took all the energy and anger generated by those with MS, one could conceivably use it as an alternative form of energy.

Ess, please consider a formal complaint about the handling of your medication to FedEx after the holidays.

Oh, and while you're spitting nails, stop by a Habitat for Humanity site and lend some help.  Another way to give with the season.  We should all put our anger to good use.  If we all could only harness it, maybe we could reduce the dependence on foreign oil....

Oh Ess, how frustrating!  I too have gotten the runaround many times from Fedex and Puralator but never over something as important as medication.  I too would worry about what kind of conditions it is stored in, ie: temperature, when not being handled directly by the pharmacy.  Is there an alternative to having Fedex deliver?  Can you pick it up at the pharmacy (or have someone pick it up for you)?  I know, this defeats the purpose of the 'convenience' of delivery, but it sounds like Fedex is making this as inconvenient as possible for you.  At least if it was held by the pharmacy you have some assurance it is being handled properly.
Sorry this was such a hassle for you.  Did anyone at Fedex tell you how you can avoid such a runaround next time??
