Baclofen-my shakes are worse

Hi All

this is mainly for QUIX

I was prescribed Baclofen to try and ease my shakes
I have not noticed any improvement in fact as I have increased the dosage to 75mg a day over about 6 weeks
my shakes have got worse
I have now stopped taking this drug but my shake`s have not improved and in fact are as bad as they have ever been
I am having trouble using this keyboard and am stressed that I may have to leave this job.

Any ideas most welcome

Hmmm...."Shakes".  Are you describing fast large muscle spasms or are you describing tremors??  Baclofen would not be an appropriate med for termors or trembling.

Muscle spasms are usually sustained - and often painful - contractions of large muscles and muscle groups.

I agree that any med that makes things worse should be stopped.

Here is a site where you can read about tremors

Please, keep us post on how you are doing

Hi there,

Glad you stopped it - especially if it's not working.

To 75 mgs in 6 wks is a short timeframe for that high of a dose it sounds to me.  This med does take some time to actually work w/in your CNS. It took me longer than 6 weeks to just adjust to the side affects.

It was prescribed for me for spasms -  not shakes or tremor. Did you call the Dr. about this? Please do - OzJohn. Need to get to the bottom of this and Dr. needs to know and see your shakes.

Hope you get back w/us.
ttys,
