I did it! I had the LP today!

I survived the LP that I was scared to have. It really wasn't that bad. The worst part was the lidocaine. Once that burning pain went away the rest was okay. Uncomfortable but ok.

My back hurts some. No headache. Been laying down for several hours and drinking lots of water and some soda.

Thank you all for your comforting words through my fears and frustrations. Reading about the procedure ahead of time really helped. They did blood work right after as well. Now I have to wait a week for the results. It should go fast. The worst part is over. Yay!

Thank you hugs to you all,
Sandy

Thank you everyone!  I will let you know as soon as I get the results. Just less then a week now. It should go fast. :)

Kurt, I hope you get an LP. It's not bad. You just have to try to relax and drink lots of water and have some cokes after. Lay down all the time.  Keep us posted. Hugs

Glad it went well, hope you have quick recovery.
I may do a LP in 4 weeks, if I manage to see a MS specialist while on vacation.

Thanks Lulu and Mary!

A cold pack sounds like a good idea. I'm in bed now so if it's still hurting tomorrow, I will try that. :)

Yeah Sandy!  Now you can be the cheerleader for the next scared soul who comes along.  I think it is natural to have some fear beforehand but there's usually way too much time to think about it after scheduling anyway.

I'm glad it went well.  Now..... make sure you don't push too hard just because you're breezing through.  Continue to drink adequate fluids and take it easy physically.  No use lifting heavy stuff or standing for extended periods if you don't r-e-a-l-l-y have to for the next couple of days.  You might want to try a cold pack off and on to see if it makes your back ache less.

Remember..... Prevention Trumps Treatment!

Peaceful dreams.

Hooray for Sandy!  I love to read of the positive LPs, that we don't talk about often.  We only discuss the problem ones.  One out of 7 have problems, but that leaves 6 being ok.

Thanks for sharing this.  Be sure to take it a bit easy while the puncture wound heals -
best,
L
