Does anyone have any info please
At this point, the doctor will have to put together your symptoms with your physical exam and your imaging. It is good that you are getting the care you need so far. Good luck with your appointment tomorrow.
3hank you for your reply. All of my symptoms point to MS and the family dr thinks that is the problem. I was just wondering if the MRI results sound typical of MS.
The result could be consistent with MS, but other things will have to be discussed also.
Mandy - The report says that there is one single spot (focus = spot) of brightness (signal intensity). It's in a particular area that is quite classic for MS, but someo other things can cause this, too.
He recommends doing another MRI with contrast to see if it is new or if it is old (remote in time). This is fine. I feel the contrast should have been used as per the MS Protocol for MRIs if MS is suspected. However, the lesion will only enhance with the contrast if it is 6 or less weeks old. It still is good info.
The MRI is quite "consistent" with MS. Depends on the neurologist - if they will consider MS with just one lesion. They should. There is NO minimum requirement of number of lesions for MS to be diagnosed. But, some neuro's have some arbitrary rules about lesions.
I was diagnosed with just one consistent lesion. Others have been, too.

Is it ok for me to ask a question in this thread?
I googled the phrase: deep periventricular white matter of the left frontal lobe, and I'm wondering if you can help clarify for me?
My MRI last week, when I look at the images, there is a white spot right near the "butterfly" shaped area of spinal fluid (I think that is what my doctor said the black butterfly shape was). The spot is, for lack of a better way to describe it, near the bottom left "wing" of the butterfly.
Is that an area consistent with MS?
Again, I'm sorry to ask my question in this thread. I can repost it in a separate thread if that is preferred.
Thanks!
~Jess
Thank you so much for your reply. It is really helpful to know that it is in an area that is classic for MS. I have my appointment with my first neurologist at 11 this morning and I am very nervous. I have never met this dr and he is not an MS specialist so I'm not sure what to expect. My family dr said that if she was not happy with him, she would get me in for a second opinion. I have been very lucky so far, I saw the familt dr for the 1st time a week ago and I have already had bloddwork, thyroid ultrasound and the MRI. So I guess I'm at least moving forward. I am just very worried and tired.
My symtoms have been:
numbness in left leg and hand
numbness in tongue
slurred speech ( this happened a year ago as well)
short term memory loss (had this one a year ago to)
I have noticed in the last week when it has been warm and sunny, if I sit in the sun for more than 30 minutes, I feel horrible. And 2 days ago, I got this weird feelinglike someone was squeezing me around my ribcage. It only lasts for a few seconds at a time but it is very annoying to say the least. Has anyone had anything like that?
