Weight Gain on Beta Inteferon

Hi All. I've been on Beta Inteferon for around 6 weeks, and have seen a slight weight gain, as well as the feeling of being bloated. Is this a common side effect?

I was on Rebif for a while, and, yes, I did gain a few pounds, and, yes, in the list of side effects in the tiny print that came with it, weight gain was one of the side effects to tell your doctor about.

I know but there are a lot of others who complain of weight gain on the DMD's also if you check out the other MS boards.

Every one is different.

I've been on Beta for 4 years now. am actually confused how you could possibly gain weight, because i never faced that, i make sure i always exercise vary the injecting sites from time to time and thats it.

Hope you get over this soon.

Thanks so much for your input. I've spoken to the nurse, but she says that it's not a 'known side effect'.

The complication is I have had a triple arthredesis to both ankles - fusion & if I gain even an extra 2 kilos, I have a huge jump in pain.

I'm VERY active & ride Dressage competitively with a very low calorie diet, so there's no reason to have any weight fluctuation. I really HAVE to watch my weight! I just don't know how to combat this.

If I do any more exercise I start with radicle muscle spasms and if I eat any less, my sugar levels drop too low, which makes the vertigo great fun!

Is there anyone out there with a magic wand?

If I give my Beta injection in my stomach I can not get into my jeans.  Not only do I feel puffy but the pressure of having something on my stomach is painful.

My injection sites hurt for several weeks!

I always feel bloated these days, I hadn't thought of the possibility of it being anything to so with the Betaseron.

Wobbly - it is a DMD.

Don't know if it is common but I feel bloated and have gained weight since starting DMD's.

I started out with Avonex and am now on Betaseron.  It is frustrating.

I am on other medications now but when I started Avonex I was not on all of this other stuff and I did start the weight gain.
