I'm so sneaky.

Hi~

I have a prescription now to have an MRI now of my cervical spine with contrast (thought is was to be of my brain, too, but I was mistaken).  So, I phoned the hospital this morning to schedule this aforementioned MRI.

Knowing, as I do, from being a member and one-time Vice President of Hypo Gamma Chondria, that a 3T is much better for the spine, I asked about it.  They said that because I have a plate in my neck from spinal fusion surgery, protocol states I should not use the 3T, but the woman on the phone said it was titanium and really was not "magnetic."  I told her...and the words just flowed out of my mouth as if they were true....that my last MRI was a 3T, and that my doctor wanted another 3T so he could compare them better.  Perhaps she could ask a supervisor.  She said she'd be happy to.  I hadn't even missed a beat.

All my previous MRIs have been 1.5T.  I am a liar.  Liar, liar.  My pants are on fire.  Someone hose me down and put me out.  I'm sure they will discover this when I get there with the report or cd they have requested that I bring, but I don't care.  In truth, the last MRI of my spine was done at the hospital and it was 1.5.  I told them it was done off-site, but that one was of my brain only, and it was 1.5, too.  Still, I don't much care.

So there!

He who speaketh with forked tongue - should not kiss balloons.

You've had two 1.5T MRIs.  2 X 1.5T = 3T

About the 5 kids.  The best birth control pill is an aspirin, held tightly between the knees.

Looking confused is always best.  But, my doctors said, it has to be on a "3T".  What does that mean?

Oh, you're good!  And we are very proud...

I'll do it!  You don't think I'll rust with all the leaking do you?

I know...depends.

I'm a walking titanium mine (is it mined?) myself. Not in head or spine, but foot and elbow loaded. I've had a bunch of MRIs nonetheless, without spinning my way to Mars or whatever dire thing can happen with other metals.

So go for it!

Hang on~

Like QUix warned -- it sounds like I wet myself with that last "warm leak!"  "Depends" on how you hear it, I guess...  We'll just go ahead and cry!

Gee, thanks, everybody!

I think I'll probably "come clean" when I get there and just say my doc wanted me to go ahead with the 3T, JUST as they're pulling me OUT from the 'tomb.'   I'm still bad.

I agree we do have to advocate for ourselves.  I didn't know the titanium plate was going to be an issue.  It startles me to know how freely the words just flow from my mouth when my pants are on fire. Tsk, tsk.

I can't believe you remember I have 5 kids, Jo!  Thanks!

Heather -- I hear ya, girl!  They don't cal me HotLegs for nothing.  Oh, wait...they don't cal ME HotLegs....never mind.

Maggie -- Tonight's Friday~ We have a few good ones for the roast -- just ask Stacey!

Ess~  A girl gots to do what a girl gots to do, I guess...

Christine ~ You obviously didn't see my post about yesterday.  I was NOT brilliant OR gutsy.  I was a limp rag.  But, today is a new day....Thanks!

Fizzle~ Aaawww.  What's up?  Down about another normal test?  Is that it?  We're getting closer, you and I, Jazzy.  We don't have to cry.  But we can if we want to!  I say we do.  At least a good warm leak!  It may help douse my burning pants!  Hang in there!

I think you did a maahvelous job baby. No way would I say anything. What's the harm of you getting the 3T, you need it.  I would just say - Oh, I was SURE the previous one was 3t, woops, sorry! ;-)

They force us to think like this.

I saw that you said you have been on the verge of tears. I've been there lately. Want to cry together?

Jazzy

LOL, if you get busted, I would just claim cognative disfunction, and mis-speaking for it.  After all, you have a neurological condition (not sure if you have a dx or not, but either way, you must have a neurological disfunction to be getting the MRIs), so may as well play it the best you can!

In desperate times you do whatever you have to do.  If we don't fight for ourselves, who else is going to fight for us?

I say Bravo for being so brilliant and gutsy!

Good for you . My philosophy is do or say anything, whatever it takes to get what you need ( medically )   You have five kids depending on you getting the best care you can provide for yourself .....   Kudos

Congrats! No, don't come clean...just say you were confused when you talked to them. It's one of your symptoms! I don't know if it is or not, but unfortunately we have learned the hard way that we have to be our own best advocate. Why shouldn't we be able to make our own decisions!!

Yes, I remember.  I could just always say, I was confused, it is a 1.5, but then I checked with my doctor and he wanted me to go ahead with the 3T.  You think?

Boy, these pants are HOT!

Let them catch you.  If they even point out that the prior ones were, indeed, 1.5T you can just seem confused about it.  Might be kind of tough to pull off, working for a doctor, but maybe you can attribute it to brain fog?

My 3T post is buried a few pages back, but I found a full-body 3T place.  When I called my neuro's scheduler about it, she encouraged me to get it on the same strength machine as before for for comparison, but I said "It's going to cost me about a thousand dollars, so don't you think I should get the best pictures my money can buy?"  So she did it.  I don't know if she consulted with one of the doctors first or not.  Anyway, the brain one was going to be on a stronger machine no matter what, because it was a 0.3T.  I'm learning a whole lot of assertive behavior from you guys.  Mine's April 2.

Congratulations on getting your way.

Oops!  I'm at work and got distracted on the phone.  I think I neglected to tell you all that the supervisor did agree to let me use the 3T.

I'm in.  Like the liar I am.
