Important reminder .....

Today is the American Heart Association's  Go Red for Women's Heart health day, and it is even more poignant that I issue my annual plea to all of you to stop and learn more.

Most of you know that we lost a dear community leader, Mary (twopack), last year to  sudden cardiac arrest.  Her death was a blow to everyone and I can only hope that some lessons are learned from her.

I am also a heart attack survivor ... I am one of the lucky women and got treatment quickly.

Heart disease kills more women than all of the cancers  combined, but it doesn't get near the attention it deserves and many of us still don't know the risks and warning signs.    Please take some time to learn more - or reacquaint yourself with the signs. of heart problems.

There is great information at  online and I encourage to spend some time reading about the Go Red movement.  Do it for yourself, do it for me, and most of all do it as part of Mary's legacy.

wishing you well, Laura

Thank you for posting this, Laura, and thanks, also for keeping Mary's memory alive.

It's so important to learn your family history, and if you have a positive family history, it wouldn't hurt to get a baseline EKG, and maybe even a stress echo.  These are easy, fairly inexpensive exams that can shed light on early abnormalities.

If what you feel is like your "MS Hug" is also radiating toward your jaw, back, or arm, and you're at all nauseous, or diphoretic (sweaty), go directly to you nearest ER and get it checked out. It may be nothing, it may be really something!!

Go Red!

Thank you for this reminder dear Laura, it sure is necessary to keep this in mind and watch out for our self and our loved ones. I hope your heart is in good health now, at least you sure know what to do to keep it healthy. Be safe.

My best always,

Hey Lulu,

I'm very touched by your message and hope many here will read it. It is essential to be aware of this silent killer and spread the word.
I've lost someone very dear to me to a sudden cardiac arrest and never really got over it.

Best wishes to all.
