Interesting site on functional symptoms

People who are having (or have had) trouble getting a diagnosis, were told any variation of "it's in your head," etc. will be interested in this extensive and very interesting site, written by a neurologist in the U.K.

http://www.neurosymptoms.org

Thanks to a former Medhelp member who has been through diagnosis hell and sent me this link!

Nancy T (symptoms for 12-plus years, no diagnosis of anything, though MS and "medical student's disease" were once leading candidates!)

Yes, and I think this site can help people understand why their neurologist may be thinking and saying certain things, even if the neurologist is not capable of explaining things well to the patient.

Perhaps this site can help people evaluate whether their neurologist really knows their stuff (as well as whether you might be suffering from a "functional" disorder yourself--not that this idea should EVER prevent people from getting, and insisting on if necessary, proper evaluations of their symptoms).

Wow!  There is a ton of information on this site.  I haven't had the time to look over all of it, but on a quick look, it sure appears to be a great find.

It lends additional support for the idea that not everything is MS and the doctors have many differentials to look at.

thanks for sharing,
Lulu
