Hi, I gather you started the steroids. I think this is best, because your doctor really wanted you on them as soon as possible. Waiting four days to start them would have been counter to your doctor's express instructions and would not have been a good thing.
They will NOT compromise your neuro exam. Whatever was abnormal will still be abnormal. The only problem it might cause for you is that some people (like me) feel a whole lot better on steroids and it shows in their face and energy level. If this is one of those neurologists who believes " you look fine, therefore nothing wrong," then your appearance might mislead.
So I would recommend to you something that I recommend anyway. Try to let him see you at your worst. If fatigue brings out your symptoms get up at 3 am and clean the house or run on the treadmill or something. Get tired and overheated. This way he is more likely to see you feeling like you usually do. Make sure he knows that you are on steroids and they have made you feel slightly better (if they have).
This is not a sneaky thing to do at all. It is not faking. You are just arranging for the Consultant to see you at your worst with the symptoms that you DO already have.
If you had hyper reflexes before the steroids, you'll still have them and any other symptoms.
I hope this helps.

Hi,
I'm not sure I fully understand the question, but I'll chime in anyway and share my experience.
My physician prescribed oral steroids, though I am not diagnosed with anything. This happened about 1 week before my appointment with a neuro. I kept the precription, but did NOT START it until I saw the neuro. He decided to order some tests, and told me not to start the steroids atleast until after the testing, as the steroids could interfere with the tests.
I'm not sure if this situation would apply to you, but maybe something to think about.
Good luck!
Hmmmm. Good question! Are you asking if steroids will change your neuro exam?
They may make you cranky enough to kick your doc when s/he tests your knee reflexes!
Interested in finding out myself. Good luck with the treatment. Hope it helps.
Feel well,
