More than 1 or 2 questions...

MCBCON brought up an interesting point...if you have more than one or two questions for your doctor, be it a pcp/gp, neurologist, rheumatologist...any more than one or two = breakdown in communication!

It is a very frustrating situation...we don't get to see our Neurologist on a regular basis but we have a lot going on in our brains and bodies...so how do we boil it all down into one or two questions?

The last time I saw my g.p. I had written down on a little piece of paper what meds I was taking and my med schedule.  When she saw it she asked if she could have it to put into my file.  Then she saw the little piece of paper I had written all my questions on and she asked if she could have it to put in my file.  I agreed.  She quickly scanned the questions I had written down and agreed that she would have all the answers that she could for the written questions when I see her again in two weeks.  I agreed...hmmmm...might work...we will see when I see her in the 1st week of March...I will let you know.

Anyone else have ideas on how to beat the one or two question conundrum???

I ALWAYS WRITE DOWN MY MEDS BEFORE EACH APPOINTMENT,ALL ARE PRESCRIBED BY NEURO.

MY GP HAS A LIST IN FRONT OF MY FILE AND THE NURSE RUNS THROUGH THAT LIST BEFORE I SEE THE GP.

WHEN I SEE MY NEURO,I ALWAYS HAVE A LIST IF NEEDED AND I JUST HAND IT TO HIM AND HE'LL GO THROUGH IT AND EXPLAIN AND WE'LL DISCUSS THE SYMPTOMS.

I'VE NEVER BEEN TO A DR THAT YA CAN ONLY ASK 1 OR 2 QUESTIONS.MY NEURO AND GP HAVE PRIVATE PRACTICES AND ARE LAID BACK.

AT MY NEURO'S OFFICE HE COMES OUT AND GETS HIS OWN PATIENTS.I SEE MY NEURO EVERY 3 MONTHS.

ITS ALWAYS GOOD TO HAVE THE LIST ,THAT WAY ITS EASIER FOR THE DRS AND THAT WAY WE DON'T FORGET.

The only way I manage at neuros, is to put everything into some kind of order which makes sense.  Connected issues lumped together.  And yes, I take notes to all appointments now.  Even when I go to my gp.  LOL  I forget far more than I learn, these days.  LOL

Sticky notes, sticky notes, gotta love them.

I jot things down on sticky notes, then compile into some semblance of order, then type it concisely as possible on the computer.

I actually manage to sound like I know what I'm talking about that way, sometimes.  LOL
