Moving on to my new life

Literally, I am moving on to my new life.

Next weekend I will be moving into my new apartment, a much more expensive apartment.  I know we shouldn't blame MS on everything, but I can directly blams MS on this move - my 2nd move in less than a year.

I am reluctant to have to move after finding a cute apartment in a great location and with the best neighbors ever.  The only problem with this place is that it is on the 2nd floor in a building with no elevators.  Laundry and garbage rooms are located in a different building and in the basement.  After my relapes last year, only 2 weeks after moving in, I was told to move, but after getting home and getting better I thought "I can stay.  What is the risk of another relapse this year." Well, I had another one this year, infact last month, and that was it I had to move.

Sometimes we can be so stubborn in hvaing to change our lives and fit things around our disease.  We have to stop doing things like working, driving, and even moving to a more accessible home.  I am moving and am not happy about it, but know it is for the best.  Heck, I might be telling you guys in a few weeks that I've never been happier.  I know one thing for sure and that is if I have another relapse, I won't be stuck in the hospital because my home is too unsafe to return to.

So, I just wanted to write this post to share my experience of living with MS can put us in situations where we have to make decisions that will hopefully make our lives easier and less stressful.  I'm Moving - on to a better life I'm sure.

That's about it.  Hope it made sense.

Julie

You all are just awesome.  There is no best answer because all of your answers are GREAT!

I am having such a hard time packing.  I wish the stuff would just pack itself, but I am making some progress.  I am going to like this new place and you bet, I'll have a glass of wine to celebrate my move to an easier life.

Thanks so much for yoru responses, they meant the world to me.  I am encouraged now because of you all.

Love and hugs back to you all.

Julie, awwwwwwwwwwwww, ( had to be like everyone else ) LOL

I am sorry that you have to move, but I think it will be a GREAT move.  I can just feel it.  I do think you will be posting in a couple of weeks that you LOVE it and it is the best thing that you could have done for yourself.

I know moving is hard, I hate it too, but I think you put thought into this one, and I know it will be a good thing for you, and it will be a more manageable move for you.

Good luck with it, and HUGS to you, and remember to have a glass of wine for me to celebrate the day you move in, OK???

Awww, Julie!  :(

I am so sorry you have to leave your home due to your MS.  It does suck, I know.  I had to do the same thing, but kind of backwards.  I had the perfect house and perfect neighbors and neighborhood.  My house was wheelchair accessible, wide hall and doorways, bathroom was the bomb!   Last year my mom lost her job.  We had to move to something cheaper.

Now I am in an apartment that is a lot smaller, bathroom is quite scary for me, my scooter is too big to maneuver around the furniture and my wheelchair doesn't fit through the doorways.  :(

I DO hope your move goes smoothly and that you end up with new friends and great neighbors in your new place.  No stairs is already a major plus!  :)

So good luck and keep that positive attitude!

Julie,

I'm sorry that you have to move from your cute apartment. I too hate change. But hopefully this move will be the best for your health and you will grow to love your new apartment.

Well, we can't say that you don't have courage! It takes a lot of strength to make a decision to move. But I'm sure after you've moved, you'll find that your new place is so much easier for you to get around.
Good luck with the move and your new life.
