Hello all, I am from England and forgive me if you've answered posts like mine.
3 wks ago, out of nowhere, I lost all grip strength in my Lhand, I couldn't operate the gears, make a fist or hold a glass of water. The pain became excruitiating over 2 wks & I was on tons of meds as I couldn't cope.
The pain changed from throbbing aching to a sharp stabbing pain in my wrist- well at the base of thumb taking my breath away, also electric shocks down my thumb followed by burning pain. Docs thought it was originally CTunnel but said it was too severe for only 'slight’ compression of median nerve as per nerve conduction tests.
I've been having spasms in my right leg and arm and face that I've never had before. (Except for face spasms which I've had twice during migraine attacks.) I'm on Gabapentin & Diazepam. In the 3rd wk I had pins n needles in my right foot and up my leg it felt numb & was prickling; odd sensations and I lay awake for 4 hours being driven mad. The next day it had gone but at lunch time it came back and I couldn't walk properly without concentrating on lifting my left at the knee and sliding my foot it along. This lasted 2 hours, not had it since but the pins n needles/ numbness in Rleg come and go most days.
4th wk now pain has subsided but hand/wrist is weak and if I overuse it I have pain brought on. Docs referred me to Rheumatology who have said it's not Arthritis and think something else is going on (one doc did mention ms and has requested an MRI and Lumbar Puncture which I think you guys call a spinal tap?
Anyway, Neurology apt has come through fast, for which I am very grateful for. Only thing that bothers me is a few docs keep asking me if I'm stressed which I’m not and this undermines what is going off- whatever that is!
Any advice would be very much appreciated.
