Update from todays appt

Thank you for all of your words of encouragement today.  At my appt.,  my doc did a nerve conduction test- I never had one in all of these years.  He noticed that my legs showed some loss of sensation and that my right upper body showed weakness and loss of sensation.  My right hand was weaker and less sensitive to temperature.  With this, he admitted that this had nothing to do with anxiety.  He then put his head in his hands and stated that he really thought that this was a case of MS.  I am going for an MRI of my thorasic and lumbar spine this week, as my brain and cspine MRI this past summer was clear.  He then wants to do some sort of blood test that should provide results.  He may also want to do another LP, since my last one was 6 1/2 years ago.
I went in with specific symptoms in a journal that I had been keeping since August.  Although I wrote everything down, I only discussed the consistent and regularly occurring symptoms and left out the measly little symptoms.
I am hopeful that this the end of chasing and the beginning of treating.
I will keep you all posted.
Thank you all so much.  Your words really helped me gain the courage to get the doctor to listen to me and not dismiss me with anxiety drugs- again- when I do not need them.  These drugs have a time and a place, but like we have been discussing, way too often they are used as a way to herd patients out of a doctor's office without a correct diagnosis.
Thanks again and I will keep you posted.
Crystal

Well done, Chrystal!  Good job!

You were prepared, and I'm so proud to hear you stood up for yourself!

You said it best with, "These drugs have a time and a place, but like we have been discussing, way too often they are used as a way to herd patients out of a doctor's office without a correct diagnosis."

Onward!

Nobody wants to be diagnosed with MS!  But we don't want to be told that we're imagining it, either.  I'm glad that you were able to get somewhere with your neuro!

Crystal,
We all know that having MS is not what you want, but having a straight and clear answer from your doctor is ....  I am sorry that it sounds like you are heading for a positive MS DX but at least then you can get started on DMD's to give you a chance to slow the progression.

I am so proud of you for handling this appointment in such a positive way with the doctor.  It feels good to partner with the neuro, doesn't it? rather than be led through the steps.

Stay in touch - we are all here for you as this journey continues,
Lulu
