TESTS

I am scheduled for an ERG and VER on Monday,  09/22/2088.  Has anyone had these tests done and can you tell me what to expect if you have had them?

Well I went through the test this morning.  The VEP wasn't bad. It took about 30 - 45 minutes and my eyes just felt like I was still seeing tiny checkers for awhile. The ERG took longer and because my eyes had to be dilated and numb, I had a terrible headache afterwards.  Thank God the glue they used in my hair was water soluble. I was at Emory Medical Center.  I was told this is the only place in GA that does the ERG.

Now I have to play the waiting game to get the test results.  My friend that is an Internal Medicine doctor is telling me from looking at my MRI and all the other symptoms I have and am experiencing it looks like MS to him. Myabe I should have had a different doctor that would listen to me!

Hi Ann!

Looks like this slipped off the 1st page.  Good luck with your tests on Monday, and welcome!

Has the Dr. mentioned MS and is running tests? Or, something else? Share if you feel comfortable to do so.

Nice to have you,
see you around,

hi there!
If you are lucky, yoou will have the VEP, or the VER, same thing, done with the new water soluable glue they have and it will just wash right out with water. If not, try using straight coniditioner instead of shampoo and it will help ease it out of your hair. And yes, these this VER is a painless teast, although it can give you a sight headache and nausea if you don't like looking at moving checker-boards.

Not sure about the ERG, but have had two VER visual evoked response or some call it VEP visual evoked potential.  They mark the sites on the scalp with a marker where they are going to place the wires that measure the response speed from the optic nerves to the brain. It is completly painless and only takes about 30-45 min. They make you sit in a chair and look at a monitor/tv screen with a reversing checkerboard pattern whil focusing on a dot in the middle of the screen, and that's all there is to this one. The worst part to this test is trying to get the gue out of your hair afterwards.

The ERG, I may have had but maybe I know it by a different name, not really sure, my memory is foggy on this one. I am sure that someone will come along and explain it to you and at the same time jog my memory!
