Worried about MS

Five months ago I had a 3 day episode of left sided numbness. I was hospitalized and a stroke was ruled out. CT of the brain and MRI were negative. Two weeks ago I had minor outpatient surgery for removal of abdominal adhesions. .4 hours after returning home from the hospital I was rushed back by ambulance for severe vertigo and chest pain. I also had issues with my asthma. I was cleared by the cardiologist and the pulmonologist but the vertigo has persisted. I was in the hospital 10 days. I had another brain CT and MRI which again were normal.  I am still suffering with dizziness and vertigo and cannot walk unassisted. I am afraid the two incidences are related but all the doctors say no. I am worried I could have MS.. I am scheduled to start vestibular therapy tomorrow per the ENT's advice. I will see my neurologist Wednesday.

Neuro ordered some test. EEG, BAER, EMG and an ultrasound of the carotid arteries. I told him my concern that I am showing signs of MS but I have no skeins on my brain MRI. I have not had a spinal MRI. I saw an ENT who sent me for PT . She told me I have vestibular neuritis. Most of the vertigo is gone but not the dizziness. I still cannot walk without a walker. I also cannot lay flat without getting massive headaches. Hoping the neuro can shed some more light on this. It is going on 1 month since symptoms started. Thank you for your responses.

Welcome to the group :-)

Your neuro will hopefully be able to shed some light on what's going on. While it is possible that a spine lesion or lesions caused your numbness, i would think any lesions causing your vertigo would be in your brain. Those would have shown up on your head MRI.

Keep us posted.

Hi and welcome,

I was hoping someone would have some idea's for you, because i'm not really sure what to say but from what you've mentioned, the only thing that's in my head is.......have you have a spinal MRI?

Let us know how you get on with your neuro on Wednesday.

Cheers..........JJ
