Paula:
Happy to hear you and your mom had such a special day. I wish her a very happy birthday. Thanks for posting the pix...they made me smile.
Today is also the wedding anniversary of my parents.
They were married on September 11, 1954 during Hurricane Edna. The tempest was a harbinger of things to come. It was a stormy marriage and we kids (5) all knew that.
Once the nest was empty, things seemed to get better for them as a couple.
Like you, September 11 is a day of celebration as well as remembrance of the events that took place 9 years ago.

Paula,
I think it's great that you turned this day into a celebration! It sounds like a marvelous time.
Happy Birthday to your mom!

Paula sounds like you had a great day despite what symbolism it carries now.
I'm glad you and your family had such a good day, especially the surprise lunch!
Happy Birthday, Paula's Mom!

9/11 is a mix of remembrance and celebration for us too. It's my son-in-law's birthday. My daughter had a surprise 40th birthday party for him today. It was a very nice time. The weather was perfect and she hired a magician to entertain us as magic is her husband's newest passion. Worth losing the vacation hours I was forced to use to get the day off.
Best wishes to all those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries today. What a wonderful reminder that every day holds potential for celebration.

Thanks for sharing those pics ... I love seeing everyone's families. It makes all of us a bit more connected.
Now I really have to ask, what's up with the box of Gerber oatmeal? just wondering, Lulu
Lol Lulu, that was my grandson's oatmeal. He loves the oatmeal so my daughter always has it with her. He is 9 months old so still on the baby food. :)
What a wonderful day it was, but is was also tiring lol, I can say that I went to bed very early and didn't wake up till 9 this morning but it was well worth it.
Thanks everyone,
Paula
