Oh, Erin, what a farce! You DID waste your time in seeing this quack. I have never heard such nonsense. He clearly was mocking you and was unprofessional.
All the things that people said before are true. Either he is so stupid and knows nothing, thus was making up answers or he is mean-spirited and hates women.
Also, I don't believe the 2 year figure. He was trying very hard to get you out of the surgery and not ever to come back through sheer futility. You desperately need a new GP. Unbelievable! Beyond my grasp that anyone could be such a mean person or such a medical Neanderthal!
What a loser!

Could I suggest firstly you make another appointment at your doctors surgery with a different GP. If you don't know the other GP's ask about and find one that is a little compasionate.
If waiting list are so long in your area to see a neuro, pay to go private this initail appointment will cost around £200. Tell the GP that is what you want to do. You can then decide which neuro you want to see (do research). After this appointment you can then opt for any further tests, treatments or consultations to be done on the NHS or privatley or a combination of both. This way you cut out a huge amount of waiting list time.
All the best

If he touched your thigh, elbow, and upper arm, and determined you don't have fibro, then he is an incompetant, uneducated, complete nincompoop. The elbow is the only one of the elbow tender points might occur. You did not see a dr, you saw a quack. He needs roasted on tomorrow nights weinie roast, then you need a new dr. Good luck....oh, and the only "negative energy" being expended is his.

WTF? What other choices do you have available? Can you seek the services of another physician? Or are your options limited? Is this the standard health care that exists in Ireland?
I'm with LuLu. If you can afford it, take yourself to another country that offers more than this hokus-pokus negative energy nonsense. He must have found his doc certificate in a Cracker Jacks box. It's best I stop commenting or I'll send the censors into overtime, but I am sorry you were exposed to HIS negative energy. MS is a treatable disease.
I'm so sorry this happened to you, my heart hurts hearing this...
I hope you can find somewhere else to go, his advice is demeaning and to give him ANY more of you time would be a shame!!! I don't see how he could help anyone!!
Muah!!! And hugs to you!!!
Erin,
What box tops did your person mail in to receive a doctor's certificate? I have to wonder where someone like this gets his credentials to practice medicine.
It sure sounds like he is a wh ack job - what an idiot to tell you that your problems are caused by negative energy. Don't give him any more time, please. Find another doctor and continue on.
If it takes two years to get an MRI in Ireland you either want to get your name on the list now OR catch a boat/plane/whatever to get to another part of the UK or anywhere in Europe to be seen sooner.
Good for you to not let on to this doctor that you are a smart woman. You may even have to offer to see a psychiatrist to prove this isn't in your head if you stick with this guy.
hang in there and don't give up on looking for the answers.

As an aside , my daughter who is now 22 has a problem where all the muscle in her hand at the base of the thumb, that padded area, all just disappeared . It has now started happening in her other hand , she had to wait 2 year's to see a neuro and when he did see her he said this may or may not be something to be worried about , that he wanted to do some test's. That was a year ago she was seen .Since then nothing. That says it all.
I was so frustrated listening to him I wish I hadn't bothered going, it just made me feel like I had wasted my time and energy. I had seen him a few weeks ago and I had left that visit thinking he might possibly be the one to help me as he is new at the practice that I attend. He said the stumbling I experience and the unsteadiness I have at time's is probably anxiety. He also said he wasn't God that medicine is an art and they don't know everything.I asked him what was the proper term for the diagnosis he had made in January when he said my nervous system was overloaded and he said GAD.
I said if that's the case and Im riddled with anxiety and I don't know it and Im ok moodwise in every area of my life ,apart from being fed up after 20 years of not knowing why I feel like Iv had the life beat out of me almost at time's, why doesnt everyone who is fed up react with weird sensations on the skin like I have and stumbling and eye pain and TN .
He didn't answer me. I asked was it not odd to him that a woman of my age had these latest symptoms when I had recurring bouts of vertigo over the last 4 years TN and weakness in my arms and legs and he told me that only one of my symptoms could be indicative of something being wrong like MS and anyway what did I expect a neuro to find on an MRI ?
I knew he was testing me & because he was implying this was all in my head & I was by then very annoyed I said well how am I supposed to know what he would find Im not a neuro. I had read on here how some Dr's don't like it if you let on you know anything they feel you shouldn't. If I dont get anywhere in the next few week's Im going to change my Doctor.... Or leave the Country:-)
yes, well I have some 'negative energy' and its because of the stupidity of just about everything that came out of your dr's mouth. There is a very good chance that this guy wont be able to treat you, its possible he was trying to be reasuring or if it is psychological (not my idea but sounds like its his) by putting you off with the long delay and miss information you would get over it.
"this phobia you have about tierdness" is saying you are anxious about being tierd, not that you are experiencing it. Sorry, that appt was all wrong, i think you need a new doctor.
Cheers.....JJ
I would not rely on this guy's opinions. It sounds like he's not experienced enough to deal with your symptoms. If he hasn't scheduled you for an appointment with a neurologist in a week, call up the office and push for it.
I don't normally comment on doctor's etc. but your's takes the cake! I am so angry with him that I struggle to find the right words!
He sounds awful, rude, uncaring, not professional etc. etc. etc. and he is SO WRONG!
Having an MRI as soon as possible is very important, it can eliminate causes and help with diagnosis, how can he be certain what is wrong with you without conducting MRI, bloodwork , lumbar puncture and doing some type of decent neuro exam. If you did have MS and lesions showed on MRI you could begin disease modifying drugs that will make a difference to the disease. YES MS at this stage is incurable but there are drugs that have been proven to slow down it's progression.
This guy sounds terrible, can you find another doctor, two years is too long to wait for MRI and perhaps some other testing might be in order (how does he know that he can't help you) if he is too lazy to try and work out what is wrong with you. There are many incurable auto immune diseases out there but there are many drugs that are helpful in managing these diseases.
I am at a loss what to say. I am sorry that your health care is so horrible in Ireland.
Udkas
Wow that sounds like a lot of s---e to me. I am so sorry. How frustrating. I am so sorry,
Alex
