Playing Dr. House

One thing that makes me hesitant to accept ms as my dx (which is not "official" until my neuro calls tomorrow) is that when all of my m.s like sx started, I developed a crescent shaped hyperpigmentation on my upper cheeks.

I pointed this out to my GP--she shrugged.

My rheumy said it might be from lupus, and my neuro had no interest in it, really.

He did notice my neck rash (which also started when all of this came on)...

So, I am sitting here asking myself if it is just a huge coincidence that I developed dark hyperpigmentation on my cheeks when all of this started, or if it is actually correlated somehow.

Just thinking out loud.

Have any of you with m.s dealt with hyperpigmentation? I doubt it is related to m.s....

I have never heard of endocrine diseases like Addison's causing brain lesions and m.s like sx...

Hi guys,
My Rhuemi feels like my lupus activity is low right now....the best it's been, so they do not suspect it. They ran several tests to check. Yes, I have lupus too. Fun times!

At the very last minute of my MS diagnosis, they had ordered the Copaxone, they did an ANA for Lupus it came up positive so they did the anti DNA which was negative so Lupus was ruled out. I had no symptoms of Lupus they just did Lupus tests on everyone to rule it out. So you can have the ANA and if it is positive ( Positive ANA by itself just means inflammation) have the anti DNA that way you know for sure. It took six weeks to get all my results but it was MS in the end.

Hey there, um i got a bit confused with the MS vs Lupus bit, i looked at your profile page and you've put down that your dx with SLE (Lupus) so now even more confused, lol sorry!

Lupus is known as one the greatest immitators, its an MS mimic or MS is a Lupus mimic either way still a mimic, right?  So i'm just wondering why your sx are not being attributed to the Lupus, because it's possible that its all connected to Lupus and not MS, which would be on top of what you already have going on which is no picinic.

I'm not aware of hyperpigmentation being connected to MS, so i totally get why youve got lots of questions about whats what.

Hugs.........JJ

Apparetly any Addison's lesions (which are rare) would be on/very near the pituitary or hypothalamic gland.
