Quix, a question

The neuroradiologist who did a reading with Big Neuro 2 noted "inflammation of the dura, based on contrast enhancement" where I've got one of my tspine herniations. Can you give me any insight into this? Should I be trying to do anything about it? Would this inflammation show up as such on an LP? This is the first mention of this I've seen.

Thanks,

Quix, that was what I was thinking. I think it must be irritation where I've got the arachnoid cyst there in my tspine.

This would all be so much more straightforward if I didn't have two tspine herniations and an arachnoid cyst.

Thanks for the response.

I don't really know.  The dura is the tough membrane that encases the outside of the spinal cord.  Inflammation there is NOT from MS.  It could be from irritation from being touched by an impinging disc.  It is not from a break in the blood-brain barrier. The dura's blood supply is on the body side of the blood-brain barrier. Inflammation there should not raise the level of inflammatory antibodies in the CSF.  And I don't think it would show up in the CSF.  The capsule of the spinal canal is made up of the Dura Mater which encases the arachnoid layer.  The nerves and blood vessels must punture the arachnoid layer to get to and from the cord.

Remember T-Lynn has Adhesive Arachnoiditis?  That probably causes a huge exudate of protein into the CSF.  But I don't think the Dura is in contact with the CSF.

Anyone?
