Regarding MRI of Brain

Recently, i fell down from stairs and feeling numb in right portion of my body. Doctor(Neurologist) suggest for Brain MRI to see any irregularity.
in MRI report comment is marked as- "A small ill defined hyperintensity in the left half of pons psteriorly and similar multiple, small, focal hyperintense areas in righ superior temporal, bilateral frontal and high parietal regions situated peripherally at the gray-white natter junction. "

can anybody help out what does this means? Doctor is saying nothing to worry on other hand he is saying its a serious case.
Thanks in advanced.

Hi and welcome,

Your question has landed in the MS community.........I haven't a clue what your neuro was talking about, it's odd for him/her to be saying there's nothing to worry about but it's a serious case, which might be fine and dandy if it was a serious case of a ice-cream headache, were you told anything about the condition he/she was talking about?

Your MRI doesn't use language we typically see eg T2 hyperintensites, flair, demyelination, enhanced etc etc it seems incomplete to me but as far as this lay person can tell, your MRI  has identified hyperintense areas in your brain, ie lesions. Having said that though depending on your age and or medical history, it's highly possible for lesions to be normal ischemic vascular changes and or consistent with any medical conditions you may have, so that 'may be' why your neuro was saying there was nothing to worry about......

Hope that helps...........JJ
