Support Groups or Literature for Family Members???

I was diagnosed with MS in August of this year. I know some things about the disease, but am learning a lot with the symptoms I experience everyday. I just joined this site and am looking to gain knowledge from all of you! One of the things I am struggling with right now is my husband's unwillingness to learn. Cognitively I have become a mess. Thoughts are clear in my head, but trying to communicate them is difficult. I have become extremely sensitive to noise. I understand his frustration. Lord knows I am frustrated by all this too. If anyone has any suggestions on where I can direct him to gain some understanding of what I am going through I would be most appreciative!!! Thank you in advance!!!!

Excellent reference Lu!

I don't know about for the family, but a book I'm reading right now that isn't to in depth on the science part, but more of a what to expect help guide is....

The everything guide to Multiple sclerosis

I'm only about a quarter of the way through it, as I just picked it up over the weekend, but so far I've found it helpful.

Best wishes

We had a brilliant post a few years back from Don and everytime I see someone asking for how to reach their family, I refer them to his words....

Consider printing this out and leaving it for your husband to chew on for a while.

This is a hard dx for us, and maybe even harder for the men in our lives who are so used to making everything right.  They can't with this MonSter and it may be he's going to take extra  time to understand that.

The local NMSS chapters often run couples weekend retreats, at virtually no cost to the participants.  Keep you eye open for one - I understand they are very beneficial to getting partners on the same page.

good luck,
Lulu

invisibledisabilities.org has some great literature for family/co-workers/etc. This is the best link from that website:

I was recently diagnosed as well, every single time I found a page online that I thought would be helpful to my family, I'd immediately e-mail them the link. Hope this helps!
