Swallowing difficulty cancer or MS or ...

Hello, I haven't bee in the forum for a while so maybe you have forgotten me. I'm a 34 year old male, about a  year ago I had optic neuritis. I had numerous tests by many neurologists and the last test I did was something like 6 months ago that I had a MRI which had no new plaque added to it and my last neurologist told me that I have to give another MRI in a year which means 6 months now on and no need for other treatments. Now something new worried me a lot. well it was about 2-3 years ago that I noticed when I try to swallow huge chunks of kebab, my favorite food,( I really mean huge) it stops at my throat and I have to drink a lot of drinks to push it down. it didn't worried me at that time because as I said the food chunks were really huge and I thought I'm eating too fast. during this period of time it repeated in >>some occasions<< but only with my favorite food, kebab and during last few months also while trying to swallow huge chunks of sweet orange. until about 2 days ago that I was eating macaroni(pasta) and I felt the same sensation again and somehow worse . I never had problem eating macaroni, I had to drink a lot to push it down. can it be related to MS? does anyone had the same problem? One thing that really panics me, is cancer. can it be a tumor? what should I do? please if you know something or experienced something tell me.

best regards,
Engineer

Hello Again,
Thank you both for your responses,
Lulu I also remembered you both because your name is easy to remember and also because you have a lot of passion for others.

I saw both a Otolaryngologist and a gastroenterologist.
the otolaryngologist looked inside my throat with a mirror and said there is no abnormality there but both of them advised a barium swallow X-Ray. While gasteroenterologist said the chance of something malignant is remote but it is necessary to take the test. I will go for the test in a few days. pray for me and  wish me health.

I wish you health and joy,
Engineer

Hi there,

Sorry your post slipped.

With a history of ON, your odds of MS increase, though there are factors that include lesions.  If you want to read the article and discussion, you can find it by using the search this feature option, and type in "Optic Neuritis Risk."

Now as for getting your favorite food down. Sounds like a check up is in order. Though MSers have varying problems, there is a good chance it is completely unrelated. Don't panic, but do make an appt.

Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Nobody answered, does it mean it does not relate to my earlier optic neuritis so should I see an internist or neurologist?
