I've had problems that began in my 20's with my right eye greying out and looking in a different direction, problems figuring out how far away the ground was when walking, and a jumping kind of gate like clonus.
About 10-12 years ago I began to have tingling in my hands and feet with what I call stripes of pain up my arms. I had normal MRI's at that time and was told I didn't have MS. I also had weird symptoms in the 90's where I would get an intense, extremely painful, searing and burning pain coming down my shoulders...and realized it was when I had overeaten....vagus nerve?
About 5 years ago I fell on my face without realizing I was falling and went to an ear, nose and throat specialist thinking it was due to my chronic sinus problem. I was told to take decongestants and Allegra, etc.. I went to a second ent who also told me to take decongestants and that there was nothing he could do. I have been having ear pain for several years, that began to intensify on the right side. I could no longer tolerate the pain so went to a different ent who told me that the ear pain had nothing to do with my ears. He referred me to a neurologist he says is very thorough. My brain MRI came up normal again. I have been diagnosed with Trigeminal neuralgia and I now also have peripheral neuropathy but don't have diabetes. The neurologist started me on Trileptal that I am to take as needed for the pain. The right ear pain is a sharp deep pain into the ear with some mild burning sensations. My balance has been off for the past few years and the neurologist sent me to physical therapy to see if it helps with my vertigo and ataxia. The physical therapist asked me if my problems are due to MS and I told her that I haven't been diagnosed yet. The neurologist is getting the results from the neurologist I saw 10-12 years ago and I will see her again at the end of June. I am a small animal veterinarian and realize now that I have been dropping instruments, have been locking myself out of the office, and recently was spaying a large dog and became very weak and light headed where I was fearful I would pass out. I was also feeling hot at that time. I own my own business and am becoming fearful that I may not be able to work in the capacity that I need to in order to support myself and my employees.
I was diagnosed with Babesia several years ago and was treated with Rifampin. The doctor that diagnosed me is running additional Lyme testing to see if I come up positive. Since I had Babesia the last time, she didn't request additional Lyme testing as she was going to treat me for the Babesia. I will see her on May 26.
After I saw the first neurologist 10-12 years ago, I began to have a lot of weird symptoms and was called the enigma. My uterus was enlarged, I vomited whenever I had my period for 4 years...to the point that I was put on Seasonale (I believe) birth control pill so that I would not have a period. I also had gastric polyps. The doctor that diagnosed me with Babesia told me that those symptoms could have been tick borne.
All in all, I really don't know what will happen but I am hoping that I find out what is causing my symptoms
