Thanks Poppy, I hope you find a solution too, let me know if you find one that works ok ???
Gentle hugs,
Candy
I know this is very controversial in the MS community (and elsewhere) but have you looked into this low dose Naltrexone that people talk about?
People seem to try to sell it as the 'cure all' for MS, which I don't believe it is, but there seems to be a bit of information out there about success with it as an adjunct to other things in the management of pain, with an unusually beneficial side effect of sleeping more deeply.
I'm currently in the process of looking into this myself, with the assistance of my PCP as I don't believe my current path is sustainable, so I have no personal experience with LDN. The lack of side effects does make me think it's worth a try though.
Some of my family members are telling me just to get hold of some cannabis, and although I'm not against trying it, I'm just not ready to go there while I know there are a few more 'conventional' things to try.
Best wishes
Poppy
Thank you DV.... you are very helpful. I will look into it for sure, I'm not a big fan of the Nabilione either.
Hope to keep in touch, my GP won't give it to me, my shrink will only give the Nabilone so, I'm not to sure how to go about it, but I will for sure look into it.
Thanks again, my friend, and will keep you posted..
Hope the sun is shining for ya,
Candy

Yep....there's a clinic in Victoria.

I tried Nabilone a few years ago for neuropathic pain, so indirectly to help with sleep as my pain was keeping me awake. I can't recall the dose I was on but it really made me feel high, which I don't care for. It did relieve my pain somewhat (maybe 30%?) but I didn't find the benefit outweighed the side effects. I also tried Sativex but I couldn't tolerate the taste, and it was making a mess of my mouth.
Several months ago I was given medical approval for dried cannabis. I have only used it a few times when my pain was most unbearable. It does work. I have a high CBD/low THC blend and doesn't make me high like Nabilone did, just very relaxed, and it does help me drift off more easily.. It gives me the perception of the tightness and burning in my arms and hands being released. When I'm really uncomfortable I can't tell you how much of a relief it is.
I'd recommend giving a low THC strain a try. Not all physicians are in agreement with their patients using medical cannabis but if yours won't support it, they ought to refer you to someone who will. I'm not sure if there's a specialized clinic in Victoria that provides authorizations but is worth looking into.
In Canada, medical cannabis cannot be sold in storefront operations. You get the authorization from a medical doctor and set up an account with a distributor who ships it to you in the mail. Mine comes from Abbotsford.
Oh, I don't smoke it, I use a vaporizer, it's much more comfortable and safer. I use a tiny amount, it's all I need.
