Whoa! VEP, what a test

I just got home from my VEP. First off, what an easy test. Secondly what a messed up test, lol.

My eyes teared up and watered the whole time I was doing it. I had one heck of a time keeping focus on that dang square, hehe. Staring at a pattern like that, for that long should be considered torture. Ok, ok, so it wasn't horrific, and it sure beats some other tests that I have taken.

I'm still waiting on the results however, the technician wouldn't tell me, ugh. Thank you for teaching me patients. So, other than I just got back, this is a completely worthless thread.

Thanks for reading

Addi, you gotta get in there and get it if possible

I am glad you lived through the test, Johnny.  ;0)

I went to PCP yesterday and asked for a referral to neuro-ophtho.  He agreed and started the process.  I fully intend on having VEP done.  Even though ya all kinda made me chicken now!  lol

Let us know the results when you get them....

Hmmm.  Mine didn't seem to bother me, and it was reported as normal.  They gave me a lower-extremities-only SSEP while I was seated in the same chair, and I am sure I could've called Amnesty International to get media attention over that torture.  The results from that were "unable to be interpreted due to a technical problem," which was never explained, & the test was never scheduled for a repeat.

I hated the VEP test and mine was abnormal. I felt it very uncomfortable and similar to the discomfort I fell if I go on a boat. I just wanted to get out of the room.

Let us know when you get the results..I will be interested in the results.....if one finds it uncomfortable is it more likely to be abnormal?????

My neuro was not unduly concerned by the results as I have had no eye symptoms so I am not worrying.

Cheers for now

OMG,  I thought it was worse than having the  LP,  my head hurt so bad afterwards.

The that gave the test knows sort of if you passed or failed right then,  but they may
not comment on the results...and maybe that's a good thing  think of the harm they could do if your not prepared to hear the results..

my two cents worth..

John.

I have to agree that the VEP has got to be ranked up there with dipping your foot in honey and standing on an ant hill.
Believe it or not,  as bad as I felt during the VEP, the test came back negative.  My neuro still lists me as having ON though.  I do have dry eye syndrome and that is what they say causes my eye pain.  I suppose that made my VEP more difficult that it is for others I don't know.

Anyway, I agree torture test.  I have refused to get another one.  My neuro has not insisted that I do it again.

I hope you recover quickly and get  the results you are looking for.
