follow up appt.

was back to ubc to see my neuro about my mri. he said that he thinks the radioligists report is an error. but he did not look at the disc himself for lesions. i felt quite uncomfortable around him yesterday he asked if we were causing me anxiety? anyways i asked for a lumbar puncture after him telling me in a previous visit that i have benign ms.i asked if i would qualify for a lumbar puncture and he said you do. but does it really matter if you are diagnosed now or six months from now? i thought about this for a minute and told him i have been this way for over a year so another six months really i guess would not make to much difference.i dont know i feel his question caught me offguard as i was exhausted from the drive which was 3 hrs in the traffic.he said he would order the lp if i have a major problem in the next 6 months.or depending on what the eye dr. said who i was seeing after him. he asked what else was happening and i told him about my arm becoming numb he tried to say off and on and i told him no it was numb for a few weeks also my left leg he said that the left leg is a pinched nerve.anyways waited to see the eye dr. who had a student with him he again found that i have mild cerebellar signs, disorder of eye movement, an afferent pupilarry defect, and that i had optic neuritis he feels that the evoked potentials testing that i had done now may not have been normal so he said he would refer his report back to the neuro.

The nerve of this guy asking if "we were making you anxious".  What kind of comment is that to make to a patient?  If you weren't anxious before he said it, then he sure as heck made you anxious afterwardsd.

I agree with Jens, go see someone else. AND call his office and tell them that you decided you decided that you do need the LP, that's if you still want to do it.

This neuro needs to be brought to our Friday Nite Cookout - AKA Weenie Roast.

Hang in there.

Sounds like you need a new guy - one closer to home.  Has he backed down from his diagnosis of 'benign' MS?  As you know, around here we don't believe in benign MS.
