Hi,
Lulu is so right..I would definitely see the Dr about your symptoms. My hubby (diagnosed w RRMS) doesn't have swelling either..only time he did have was in reaction to Baclofen (rare side effect, hubby just happened to have). Medically speaking, cold extremeties can related to a blood flow issue, as can swelling/edema. I have Lupus and along with it Raynauds, which causes me to have ice cold feet and or hands sometimes even when I don't feel cold overall.
Regards,
C
I have never had swelling with MS.

Thank you. I started with tgn then I awoke one morning with right arm paralysis for 4 months the drs thought I had a stroke My hand was slightly swollen then. Now I get that deep freeze pain. My balance has just gone did the good old neuro examine then I moved waiting for a new dr. This balance
Problem comes and goes sometimes I get lucky and grab a wall etc so I don't go all the way down.
As HVAC said, muscle relaxers and/or Neurontin helps and I agree with LuLu, to investigate a bit further with the primary in regard to the unilateral swelling.
Just make sure other symptoms do not accompany that like leg pain, redness (streaks), or shortness of breath. These symptoms should be reported to the doctor asap.
I wish you luck with the management of your pain and/or spasms. I've tried Zanaflex and Flexeril which both do diddly squat for me. One time I did have Valium in ER for muscle spasms and lo and behold the anxiolytic worked for me and after 5.5 hours later, the pain/spasm returned again. Not that I was anxious but I think Valium has pharmaceutical agents that helps with relaxation of skeletal muscles. Just don't quote me on that.
What may work for one person, may not work for another.
Keep us posted.

hi, I'm glad you are finding the information here useful. It is very unusual for MS to cause the swelling you describe -remember MS is a central nervous system disease while the swelling problem almost always is circulatory system. You really need to talk with you doctor about this - your primary care one - and have it checked out. Remember - just because we have MS doesn't mean we are immune from other problems.
best, Laura
Thank you, I tried amitriplyene (not sure of the spelling) was left like a zumbbie lol. Does your hand ever swell up and hurt a lot?
Hope your have a great weekend!
For spasms I take muscle relaxers and for nerve pain anti seizure medications.
