Hi and welcome to our little corner of the web, you may find our health pages of interest to you, located to the right of your screen.

I noticed you posted a little more detail in a prior post "a few tiny scattered foci of hyperintensity involving the cerebral white matter. the aetiology of these is uncertain. i note most of these lesions appear subcortical in nature rather than periventricular and normal brain stem and cerebellum.

i am thought to have ms and have ms symptoms but do not understand these results, my doctor has suggested to request more tests."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerebral_cortex has heaps but if you google cerebral white matter you'll see a lot come up eg vascular, migraine, Lyme, high blood pressure etc. MS is a dx of clinical sx + medical history + test results eg MRI etc so alone the MRI would not indicate enough information or even point towards a possibility dx of MS at this stage.

You may find it interesting to note that research into cortical/subcortical white matter lesions are commonly found in pwMS, stats are upto 80% though i'm pretty sure without lesions in other common MS areas, this will probably hold little meaning overall. One research article to look at is.. http://www.ajnr.org/content/21/2/402.full

Its important to remember that MS has many mimics, some sx classic for MS but many many sx are also found in many other condition, and it can take a very long time before the correct dx is made.

Cheers............JJ

It can indicate a lot of things.  Can you give us more information? What cause the MRI to be done in the first place?
