Hi Henrik-
I have nerve pain in my feet. By itself it is here all the time. With meds it was under control until very recently. It seems to be creeping back into my life lately.
Nerve pain is often treated with antidepressants and anticonvulsants, or a combination of the two. No one is really sure why this off label use works, but it can be very effective. Have a chat with your neurologist.

I've got nerve pain from my ms, as well as from RSD. It hasn't gone away, but I've heard it can for some people. I hope you'll be one of them...
The good news: after a while, it's like living near the freeway. It just becomes background noise. We are remarkably adaptable. Just about anything can become our "normal".

Like any MS symptom, nerve pain may or may not remit, depending on the severity of damage that has occurred, as well as the type of MS one has. Though even in RRMS, permanent damage can occur. My pain which is worst in my left hand and arm hasn't remitted at all in five years, so I doubt it ever will. There are meds available, I've tried many but keep coming back to gabapentin and nortriptyline. They're far from adequate but they're better than nothing, and give me the least side effects.
I've had nerve pain for the past six months and am very sorry to say that from what I've read/been told, it is not uncommon for it to become a permanent fixture.
There are a number of good treatments for the pain though. The 'old' tricyclic antidepressants and anticonvulsants do work. There are also a few newer drugs used for treatment too, so there are some options to make you more comfortable.
Best wishes
