I forgot to mention that when I get these cramps I immediately go the medicine, take out a capsule, open it, and dump the contents in my mouth and wait. Then I go back to sleep without pain. This also worked for me for sciatica 20 years ago, after trying absolutely everything, including acupuncture. However if there is irreparable damage causing the pain, obviously B1 would not work.

I don't know why you were so disinterested but I think I'd be tempted to give the B1 a try.  It worked for one person and must have far less harm potential than your present course.

I believe 40mg is at the top of the daily dosage ramp for Valiium no matter what you're taking it for.  As a benzodiazepam Valium often does work to decrease muscle spasms.  That doesn't mean its the best drugs to control them though -- and it isn't -- not by a long shot.

Valium isn't used much these days unless other options are exhausted first.  It was commonly given to 'anxious' housewives once-upon-a-time to 'keep them happy' and out of their doctor's waiting rooms.  When high percentages of them couldn't stop taking the stuff researchers discovered (too late) that the snake oil had one of the highest addiction potentials out there.  Many a painful and prolonged withdrawl and recovery followed.  The less fortunate remained dependent their entire lives.

I hope you find some answers and a better solution very soon.

When I get those symptoms I take 100 mg of B1. The small quantity found in regular vitamin supplements is not sufficient. And... this may not work for you. But, at least it is harmless.
