update with speech therapy

Following last weeks swallowing test and the bad results the therapist changed my diet to soft foods which I still have some problems with like pudding and stuff like that so she may change me to a ground diet instead. Its obly been a few days and I am already getting tired of soup and the like.

on another note started pt last week as well and will be getting a afo for my left foot for foot drop, dragging. Does anyone use this? Do you wear it to bed? My foot bothers the crap out of me at night because it drops I dont know how to explain it but I sleep on my stomach with my feet hanging over edge of bed so the top of my foot presses against the mattress.

Any help suggestions appreciated as the MS  marches on

Thanks Laura I am sure we can come up with a good food plan.  I havent been fitted yet for the afo so not sure if it will be hinched or not. I dont have a boot but will ask about it when I get fitted for the afo.

will yours just be temporary then?

thanks

I'm glad you gave an update from your speech therapy visit.  It sounds like you have a good one and hopefully you will find the right combination of food consistency and flavor.

I am picking up my afo next week - maybe we can compare notes.  Mine is non-hinged, so I doubt i can sleep in it.  I am getting it to stabiize my foot while my foot stress fracture heals.
Do you happen to have any of those black boots they often give for foot injuries?  If so you might try sleeping in one of those to stabilize your foot as you sleep. Its too bad you aren't my neigbor because I have several and could loan you one to try.
