worried

For the past year and a half, maybe longer, i have had really bad headaches. In the past month, along with the headaches i have been having dizziness, numbness on my left side (left side of face, arm, and leg). I got up one morning and fell to the floor. It felt like needles sticking in my leg and foot but i couldn't stand up. I went to my doctor and he ordered an MRI of the brain, with and without contrast. When the results came in the mail. He said i had a small cyst on my brain and it wasn't causing the problem and i had pinched nerves. I called him but all he told his nurse to tell me was it will never go away. I had alot of questions. I went to the hospital and picked up a copy of y results. This is what it reads: Incidental sublenticular cyst on the left without intracranial hemorrhage. It mentions nothing about size or about pinched nerves. My question is what is this sublenticular cyst and should i be worried and also will it cause any harm if it grows, where is this located on the brain? Will this cause the headaches, dizziness and numbness on my left side? Should i see a neurologist?

Thanks

Thank you for answering my question. It helped alot. I called and made an appointment with a neurologist. Again Thank you. You told me alot more than my own MD.

Hi,

A sublenticular cyst is not a tumor and usually does not cause any symptoms unless it is large enough to compress the neighboring structures in the brain. This however needs frequent follow up just to make sure the cyst is not increasing in size.
I think it is better that you get an evaluation done by your neurologist as it is important to correlate these findings with your clinical and neurological exam.

Thanks
