I would like to say, Constance, your husband needs to go to the ER today, because his symptoms suggest a possibility of a blood vessel being blocked, which can make the back hurt, and can cause that dizziness he's having, as well as nausea depending on the circulation problem.  He could fall out with a heart attack, so hopefully he will see the importance of immediate help.  Now, chances are he's not in the category of a blocked blood vessel, but better safe than sorry.

You have a combination of symptoms best addressed by  physician(s). Disturbances of balance (sense of level) are quite common. Sometimes there is a serious problem and sometimes the reason is a simple infection. Clearly, your husband needs a neurological consult. And your husband should be the one doing the asking. As for the back pain, your description of the nature of the pain is not sufficient to comment on. Again, he needs a consult with an M.D. It is silly to suffer needlessly.
