tremors

Hello,

I am 37 and obtained a tremor 3 months ago

It came on while i was sitting at my camera club one night..i thought..my head is shaking a tiny bit.

It went away after a few seconds and i thought nothing of it.

Over the next few weeks it continued to return..again a slight side to side tremor but went away after 10 seconds or so.

Nobody had noticed so i thought it was all in my head.

Over the next few weeks it came on more regularly..while i was sitting watching television, at work and people had began to notice.

I went to my GP and she did some tests but found nothing and put me on a waiting list to see a specialist.

During the next week i found it really hard to concentrate at work ..my hearing wasn't great i got terrible headaches and when i got upset the tremor got a lot worse.

I decided to have my eyes checked out but nothing came back as being untoward

As i have had back problems in the past and have had good results after visiting a chiropractor i decided to visit a local one.

I have been three times over the past 3 weeks and after having my neck manipulated, iced and regular exercised i can say (touch wood) i no longer have a tremor!!(i sometimes get an odd shooting sensation at the back of my neck but when i do exercises it dissapears)

The Chiropractor believes it could have something to do with how i sit at work on the computer?

I changed the size of the font on my screen, now sit with a cushion so my back is straight and have carpet under the wheels of so it does not move on the wooden floor all the time.
Thought it may be of importance as my chiropractor has only seen one other like me in the 17 years he has been practicing (the lady got a tremor when she turned her head to the side-after manipulating it it went away!)
Perhaps it might help doctors if a patient comes with similar signs??

Hey there, I may not have THE answer, but i do share the same symptoms. So in other words, i have AN answer.

I think your chiropractor makes sense. I too sit for hours in the same position, with my arms propped up on the table. By the time i get up i get this pain that shoots up my back right to my neck, I thought sleeping would relax the muscles, but it only got worse when i got up. As for the pillows, which i too use for my lower back, may make you think it helps, but in fact kinda fools you by keeping you working longer without getting up.

Here is what works for me and my brother:

1. If your adamant or pressured to stay seated for long hours, you could ask your chiropractor for a back support that attaches to your seat. It is intended to keep your spine aligned. My brother took that thing everywhere, even when he drove. It helps, but it's surprisingly pricy. It may be due to the fact that i live on the other side of the world where such medical accessories cost 3 times more than the states. If my memory serves me right, my brother bought one, from his chiropractor for around $400.  Again this isn't a cure, just a less painful, and more effective alternative to a pillow.

2. due to my profession (Editor-in-chief) i HAVE to sit for hours going over an insane amount material... it has taken a toll on my back, neck and recently my legs. all these were visible when i got up. So what i did, as tired as i was, stretch for 5 minutes, take a 20 minute walk then a hot steaming shower (and dont rush  the shower, enjoy it). This helps me not only stretch/relax the tension/muscles, but leaves/gives me a fresh perspective (ideas and how to implement them).

3. Drink water, and keep healthy snacks around. We burn a whole lot of energy thinking/working, Dehydration and hunger will not help you function effectively, which in turn leaves you working longer.

Good luck and I hope this helps.

P.S. I got your back! (sorry i couldn't it)
