constant twitching in my legs (mostly calves) and feet.

Hi All, 4 years ago i started experiencing muscle twitching in my calve muscles but only at night. this would happen maybe once a week so it wasnt too much of a bother. For the last year or so, i have noticed these twitches have spread throughout my legs and feet and are visibly present 24/7, little ants crawling under my skin. I have no weakness, pain or cramp just constant twitching. i am waiting for a neurology appointment which could take a while. has anyone experienced something similar or can shed some light?
