dizzy

Hi everyone ive been having a lot of neck tension with dizzy spells and im just wondering if dizziness is caused by neck. I do suffer with anxiety and have a lot of different symptoms like shooting pains up my head and a burning feeling up head aswell. Is this all related to tension. Its hard to believe that its all anxiety related especially when the symptoms are there. Thanks.

Dear Ella, welcome to the medhelp forum. I understand your health concerns. You are possibly suffering from cervical vertigo. There are many possible causes including whiplash neck injury in a road traffic accident which could also cause spinal fluid leakage and headache and dizziness. This could be due to cervical cord compression due to degenerated or prolapsed intervertebral discs in the cervical spine causing central canal stenosis. These can be visualized on an MRI cervical spine. Consult a neurologist for a detailed and systematic examination. Therapy would depend on the diagnosis. Migraine headaches can also present similarly and need exclusion. You are welcome with any further clarification. Take care.

Hi Ella,
Anxiety is one of the causes of dizziness indeed.
The Mayo Clinic's web site lists anxiety as one of the potential causes of dizziness. There are a lot of new studies that support this.
If your doctor is not familiar with this I can send you some links to give him.
I suggest you look into possible causes of your anxiety and other issues.
Have you looked in possible nutritional deficiencies? A thorough investigation, including B vitamins, minerals( blood tests do not show all mineral deficiencies- like Magnesium) and EFA levels.
Omega-3 is an important one to check also.
As well, food intolerance, reactions and allergies specially "silent" ones
should be ruled out. You can download Dr. Cocoa's Pulse Test for free
to have this checked on you own. It takes about a week to complete.
Also look into Valerian Root as a natural remedy for anxiety issues.
Hope this helps. I know how all this feels, as i have been there myself.
Wishing you well and please post again.
Blessings
Niko
