Okay. We'll be standing by. Sorry for my earlier useless remarks.
I can change doctors when I won't as long as they are excepting New patients in the surgery, I'm sure over here our doctors have to send us for and to specialists etc but I will look into it or I might even look for a new doctor
Hmmm. So what do you "tink" you'll do, hahah? In your system, don't you have to be referred by your primary doctor? Do you have freedom to change primary docs, if the one you have now is not cooperative?
I don't live in us I'm from England darling x
If you ask the doctor for a referral to a neurologist, and he agrees, then it's not without his say-so. You might be able to see a neurologist without his say-so, however, depending on your insurance. Some health insurance policies require a primary care physician (PCP) referral, in order for the patient to see a specialist. In some geographic areas, the specialists are so busy that they require a PCP referral, just to cut down on the number of new patients they see. I'm assuming, in all of these comments, that you live in the US and that you do have health insurance coverage. Otherwise, none of what I'm telling you may apply.
I'm thinking that, since you're already an established patient with your current PCP, going to see him first is probably going to be the fastest way for you to get some help. There won't be much he can do to rule out seizures, I don't think. I believe he's going to have to refer you to a neurologist. You can change PCPs then, if you want to. If the current PCP is not helpful on this matter, then definitely change PCPs, and immediately ask the new PCP for a referral to a neurologist.
Can I ask my doctor that? To be referred without his say so?
Sounds like you need to get a new doctor if he makes you feel like that. Also, you can always ask to be referred to a specialist ?
Thankyou for your comments the thing is my doctor is a bit moody lol he don't really make u feel very welcome if you no what I mean I'm also any 27 and I don't won't my doc thinking I'm a hypochondriac it sounds weird but when I go see my doctor I sit in waiting room and wish I hadn't bothered coming but you are right and need to get checked as I no it's not right how my body goes and it's strange because it's always if I lose my temper or I get really upset about something I've only had. Hi Tinkerbell, I agree. You should really talk to a doctor about these symptoms, for all the reasons that skydnsr has mentioned. Let the doctors do their job and help you , possibly with much needed meds. Don't be afraid. You have to look after yourself. You can do it I know you can. Be open and honest with the doctor, and answer their questions truthfully. Please, give them a chance to help you. You might be doing real damage not talking to them, and you may have huge regrets if you don't . What if you are on your way to a stroke, where you can't use the left side of your body? Hindsight is 20/20. Get help for yourself, or you may regret it. If you need a friend, just reach out to anyone on Medhelp, and you'll find one. Liz
I hear that you don't like to go to doctors, but these spells could easily be seizures. You really should get this checked out. The big problem is that uncontrolled seizures can eventually cause brain damage, if nothing is done about them. In addition, you could endanger yourself or others, if you were to have a seizure, say, behind the wheel of a car. Or standing at the top of a flight of stairs. Or while you were taking care of a young child. Or while operating power tools.
My intention is not to scare you, but simply to give you the information that you need in order to be able make an informed decision. I'm sure that what I'm saying isn't what you wanted to hear, so I'm sorry for that. The good thing is, if it should turn out that you do have a seizure disorder, there is treatment available. Almost everybody who has a seizure disorder is able to get the seizures under control on medication. I hope you'll talk to a doctor and post back to let us know how you're doing. Good luck.
