rumble

Hi,
I frequently remain awake all night long.
I hear a low rumble in my ears (jaw muscles spasming) and frequently by morning my neck/head/face muscles are fatigued, sore and tight.
I believe these muscles are being spasmed all night, keeping me awake.
Last week I was awake for four days straight except for a few power naps throughout the day that kept me going.
This has been happening on and off for at least the past ten years but seems to have gotten worse this past year.
I've been to general doc -> ear, nose, throat -> ortho and had head and upper body MRIs that didn't show anything significant.  I've also been through physical therapy which helped me with some muscle stretching to reduce the muscle tightness.
Any idea is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for posting.

It will help us to know if you have been evaluated for TMJ or temporomandibular joint dysfunction. TMJ can cause similar symptoms like muscle spasms in the temple region, pain and stiffness and is common in people who clench their teeth in the night or are in the habit of chewing gum.
A visit to the dentist for evaluation for TMJ will help.

Regards
