I’m having a kind of serious conflict. About vitamins.

I have some let’s say friends who are convinced that methylcobalamin (vitamin b12) is a form of “speed” - literally they think that methyl groups make people faster. I love done organic chemistry and know that’s not true. I didn’t acquire methylcobalamin until I was in my 30s and have found that it somehow consistently improves my rowing machine times (this has been observed over months of rowing), eventually I stumbled upon pernicious anemia - a disorder that prevents the body from absorbing other forms of colbalmin. I plan on discussing this matter with my general practitioner and my psychiatrist - it’s been quite a mental strain to deal with this. How can one go about being tested for pernicious anemia? And should my GP have considered it earlier? What are the long term symptoms of b12 deficiency? Could this cause physical changes?

I have autoimmune pernicious anaemia. My blood cells never enlarged however even with severe B12 deficiency.  I have positive intrinsic factor antibodies and positive parietal cell antibodies. There is a long list of symptoms both mental and physical unfortunately. The number one symptom is fatigue. I have permanent nerve damage.

Your friend sounds out there. lol  Vitamin B vitamins are essential vitamins. Now B vitamins do give you energy. they are in energy drinks as a matter of fact. But that doesn't make them like speed.
